I didn't see a thread for the SMU absn Spring 2021 cohort so I just wanted to start one!

I'm currently in the process of applying right now and working on my personal statements!

Hello,

yes, my friend is in the ABSN program right now and SMU hasn’t be fair to them. Some students don’t have equal amounts of clinical hours and they still had to pay full tuition despite not having the same access as they would pre-COVID times. I believe if you’re paying 80k+ you should have access to fair education & she hasn’t received that. Things have been last min so don’t be surprised if we don’t hear back until Nov/Dec. Try and stay calm yall, we will hear soon! Just wanted to let y’all know that hearing late is a possibility!

Off topic! What is everyone age range and why do you want to be a nurse? 
 

Also, what are you doing now Hahaa? 

 

I feel they should reduce tuition if we not getting the experience...

I’m 34 an living with my parents while I go back to school and to help with my son since I’m a single mom. They are literally life savers! I started my pre-reqs 10years ago and gave up..so I’m starting over and trying again! Now that I have my son I’m determined to get into a program so I can support us on my own someday. What about you?

I am applying to other schools and retaking my pre-reqs LOL!

36, old horse, new tricks!

I’ve been in fruit and vegetable sales and now manage rental properties. I went back to school for prerequisites in 2019 and have been loving being back learning.
I’m switching to a career in nursing because I want to help in critical care situations and do a hands-on job while working with a team. I also love the breadth of positions you can fit into with nursing.

Does anyone know when the SM and Sac Spring cohorts start? I haven't been able to find the start dates. The website just says Spring or January.

I’m 32. I work at a medspa as a Coolsculpting practitioner/ medical esthetician. I love the medspa industry, but I really want to be in a hospital doing something that has purpose so to speak. The physician I work for wants to train me on lasers/injectable, so I’ll probably work p/t doing that and hopefully work full time at a hospital.

Wow! Medspa is so cool! So once you become a RN you will work there?
