Hello!

I didn't see a thread for the SMU absn Spring 2021 cohort so I just wanted to start one!

I'm currently in the process of applying right now and working on my personal statements!

Hope you are all staying safe during this crazy time!

Yay! Are you planning to take the HESI? I haven’t taken it yet...maybe I should start studying haha

I’m thinking I should start preparing to take that test too ?

Does the HESI provide online proctoring exams - where you can take it at home? I know TEAS does, but TEAS is harder LOL.

I haven’t taken it yet either ? I’m only applying to the sac location and the next deadline for them isn’t until April so I have a little time. Also debating to retake the TEAS for a higher score so if I score high enough I’ll just use that one for smu, but I heard HESI is easier so I don’t what I’m doing LOL

I was under the impression that we do not have to take the HESI anymore and TEAS was not an option..

For this last application period (may and July deadline) they waived the HESI exam requirement. But they will accept TEAS and HESI for the future apps. That’s what I thought but I could be wrong. I’ll have to look it up again

That was only for this recent application period because of COVID. They have now reverted back to requiring the HESI for future applications, as well as adding the TEAS as an alternative to the HESI.

I, for one, am so happy they added the TEAS! I have already taken the TEAS and SMU was the only school that I am applying to that required the HESI, so when they didn't require it, I jumped on applying this period. Now I don't have to pay to take the HESI (which I was too lazy and too poor to consider taking), LOL.

Ahhhh got it. LOL mini heart attack there

LOL I know it’s confusing! I was excited when I heard you didn’t have to take it but then again I knew there would be more ppl applying because of it. But not having to take a test is always nice so it’s bittersweet! ?
