Hello!

I applied to the Samuel Merritt ELMSN FNP Spring 2017 cohort! Was wondering if there were any of you out there as I am anxiously awaiting to hear about interviews.

If any current SMU ELMSN FNP students have any input on:

1. the interview process

2. what you would do to prepare for the program knowing what you know now

3. why you chose SMU

I would love to hear feedback!

We had 10. They told us we would be notified by end of next week. Did they tell u sooner?? I read Monday somewhere... that would be nice. So excited to hear back. í ½í±

As you guys were finding out about your interviews (September 8th), I received an email that my application was being reviewed. Did you guys get your interview invitation right away once you received that email? this is stressing me out :(

@Naida27 - Just wondering if you applied for the later deadline (Nov 1)? Most of us were from the July 1 deadline, and we heard back around September. If you applied later, than I'm assuming that most likely you'll hear soon? It's only an assumption though, since I recall from an info session recently that for those who were going to apply by Nov 1 deadline, that they had to turn this in ASAP. Hope this helps out a little bit. I had turned in my application end of May and I didn't hear back till September. What I did do though around the end of June was to simply confirm that they received my application. I'm sure you can do the same thing and contact SMU just to see if they received your application and what steps to take moving forward. :) Hope this helps!

I applied for the July deadline as well and got confirmation that my application was received by Samuel merritt on July 5. I got the invite for an interview on Sept 9th. Hope this helps. Best of luck to you. I applied last year as well but didn't have all my prerequisites complete until last October ( after the interviews took place) so I didn't get an interview. I did call them and found out what happened....

@Naida27 When did you submit your application? The application deadline was due on July 1st and they started reviewing applications in August. Thus, if you submitted your application after the deadline, it may have been submitted, but they might not review your application. Also, I was told my group was the last group for interviews. However, if the program still have extra space before January, they may consider your application and invite you to a possible interview. Best of luck!!

@happytammy I submitted my app for the July deadline with one class in progress that I finished on August 3rd. It was submitted and received on time. I wonder if they held on my app and just reviewed it later than other applicants'.

I had received a message a week before my app was being reviewed from nursingCAS that the ELMSN-FNP deadline was extended to November 1st. I asked the admission counselor and she yes it's extended but has no affect on your application time line etc. but when I called her today, she said it's not extended (it's also been changed on the website). That's very weird to me because my friend is working on her app for the November deadline. So now I'm wondering: was I just not accepted or am I being compared to the nov 1st applicants (possible cohort 2).

:( The admissions counselor didn't want to give me any info about my app or when interviews are "suppose to be". From what it it sounds like I wasn't accepted but I'm being hopeful that I'm just wrong. :(

Do you know if wait listed applicants get their interview invitation (if at all) later than others?

@Naida27, I'm not sure... if I heard correctly, I believe those who interviewed would either be accepted, denied, or waitlisted. I'm not sure though about those who didn't interview. It's hard to say....sorry if I'm not giving you much help here. I did just check NursingCas and it looks like the ELMSN FNP app for Spring 2017 is still up though, so ... maybe? Wish I could be more helpful..

Sigh í ½í¸ž It's ok. I'm in full on denial about this whole thing :( The wait is killing me inside but all I can do is wait...

@Naida27 I'm sorry you're in this situation right now. I'm not sure how come you received such a late email about your application being reviewed. When you submitted your application, did you send in all your transcripts on time including the one in progress? I don't think they start reviewing your application till all materials are received.

It's possible there's later interviews in October since some Case Management interviews are in October? Also, orientation is in November, so there's still hope!

My name is Peggy :) and I am one of the students who were contacted about being accepted on Sept. 8th. Ahhh, GOOD LUCK TO YOU ALL!!! From what I've read, it looks like you should all be hearing back today! I'm really excited and anxious for everyone and I can't wait to meet you all :D.
