Samuel Merritt ELMSN Fall 2019

Published

Hi, everyone! Just wanted to start a forum for those applying to SMU's ELMSN Fall 2019 program. I know the admission deadline was about a month ago and I wanted to know if anyone has heard back yet! I applied for the FNP track ?

Hello,

i just wanted to update everyone. I’ve been emailing Anne and it looks like if you have not been already invited to an interview, it safe to assume you won’t be getting one at all. I feel quite sad and lost right now, but I hope everyone the best in the future. I love hearing about how others are doing so keep us updated on the admission process. I’m just waiting for an official denial now.

Dont loose hope! I have been applying to the ABSN program for two years and denied every time...this application round I applied to the ELMSN for the first time and got an interview call.. It'll all work out in due time.

Did everyone who got an interview have an extensive work history in the health field? I got into the ABSN program, yet did not get an interview to the ELMSN program.

HESI: 93

Prereq GPA: 4.0

Last 60 units: 3.86

I’m going to assume so? I have 7 years of healthcare experience which includes QI work and patient case management minus having an RN degree

along with CNA work.

Im still a bit nervous about her drilling me about my grades from 2007..

I also interview Thurs at 5:30. Hope to meet y'all! Does anyone know who the ELMSN FNP program chair is? And they didn't say anything about a written portion......

How did the Thursdays interview go? Was it still group?

Hi all,

The FNP interview process consist of a group interview and does not require an essay. My friend have went through the interview process for the FNP track and she told me it wasn’t hard but a little challenging in a sense that you have to try to find a way to stand out. I believe it’s a panel interview.

CM track is a one on one followed by a written portion. The CM written portion isn’t to bad, once you get a flow going you’ll be going to 4 pages in no time.

P.S. You will get grilled about grades. The person whom interviewed me was a professor and she really tough.

Good luck everyone!!

I’m sure you have nothing to worry about!

It was group interview. There was a group interview before us as well. I think it was nice meeting the other applicants, and the faculty. They are very warm and welcoming. I think the best advice in the group interview is be yourself, work well with others and voice your ideas in a balanced way, meaning speak but also let others get a word in as well. Best of luck to everyone. They said they will have decisions made by next week.
