Just wanted to start a thread for the students applying to this time frame! Deadline's around the corner. ?

Oh wow that seems so long of a wait! Did they comment on decisions for San Mateo April and June starts?

For my application I put San Mateo in April as my first choice, Oakland in May as my second, and San Mateo in June as my third choice. Did anyone else do this? I had assumed I would hear back about all three choices at the same time but maybe we hear back at different times?? The wait is killing me!

I assumed the same! I have a bit different order: Oakland, San Mateo - June, San Mateo - April.

Ah! A whole month longer to wait. Thank you for the update Deepa. Trying to be positive and patient over here ?.

I did the same. Oakland as my first choice, then SM in June and then April.

I only asked about the Oakland Summer Cohort, so don't know about the others.

Hey guys! Does anyone know anyone who has gotten in to a second choice campus after getting rejected from their first choice? I feel like SMU would consider you for your others choices or they wouldn't have you list a 2nd or 3rd choice in the first place.. haha have been reading all the past forums and not sure if that has happened to anyone?

Hey! So I asked an admissions counselor of the Oakland campus whether they actually take our choices into consideration and she pretty much told me that if I put Oakland as my first choice then my app is sent to Oakland admissions. if I’m rejected from Oakland I’m added to a list that they then hand over to San Mateo admissions...

And I’m just taking a wild guess that we don’t have much chance at our second/third choice due to the obvious of San Mateo first looking at all apps that put their location as their first choice. 

This is just what I’ve been told and I’m not sure how true this is since I now believe SMU is just all over the place when choosing students and that others have heard otherwise.

Yea that definitely makes sense! Thanks for shedding some light on that! @djpa2

I wonder if that means it might be less competitive to get into the San Mateo cohort since there are two cohorts compared with the Oakland one? And I did read of here from one of the past threads that the Oakland campus gets the most applications?

Oakland campus is definitely more competitive. I hear due to campus quality plus probably just the one cohort per year.

The same counselor actually told me San Mateo is more competitive?! Simply because of location!

We all just hear different things for SMU and it’s so odd to me LOL.
