Just wanted to start an information-sharing thread for those applying for the ABSN Summer 19 cohort at Samuel Merritt University (in Oakland, CA and San Mateo, CA). Looking forward to getting to know everyone!

I applied one day before the deadline and received a preliminary review email on Jan 8th.

What does the preliminary email say? I submitted my application 2 months before the actual due date, I had 2 classes in progress (psych, and patho) but finished those early Dec 2018 and submitted the academic update early January 2019. So far i received an initial email the my application was received and nothing else.

Hi guys,

I emailed Anne from the Oakland campus and she said decisions should be coming out mid-March. Super late but at least there’s no need to constantly check our emails for now!

Hey, who do you have to submit an academic update to? NursingCas or directly to SMU? I had 1 class in progress and 2 classes that were planned when I applied. I wasn't aware that I had to submit an academic update when I finished a course. I did receive a preliminary email though. Sorry if this is a stupid question

@guambrocha Essentially, the email just states that it is a confirmation that they have finished the preliminary review of your application.

@wanida you need to submit your updates via nursingCAS. You log in and submit the changes to your grades that were in progress, then submit your transcript for them to verify.

No worries, the academic update is via nursing cas, just log in to your application and you should see it on the notifications, it is due soon ( feb 15th i believe)

I still haven't received my review email..... Im starting to get nervous like I did something wrong. I applied to San mateo Jan start and was in the 30's on the waitlist with 3 classes that I needed to take. This time around I have finished all my classes and nursing CAS says they have verified my classes that were completed in Dec. I wonder if it is taking longer because of that? I applied to April start this time around. Does anyone know when the April people should be hearing back?

I applied in November with two classes in progress. Finished the classes in December and they were verified mid-January. I haven't gotten a prelim email yet either, but I asked Derric when we should hear back a week ago and he said we should be hearing back within a month. So I want to say by the end of the month we should hear back

I just received my preliminary review email yesterday and I applied like maybe 10 days before the deadline. I can’t really tell the order in which they’re reviewing applications but if anything it seems like they’re looking at the most recent submissions first?

I received my preliminary review email the first week of January and I applied 1 day before the deadline. I did not receive any emails from SMU saying they received my application prior to that email. The prelim review email was the last I have heard from them.

I finally received my preliminary review email and annoyingly it shows I am missing two classes which I am not! NursingCAS seems to be behind with updating the schools with coursework. I hope this does not hinder my chances of getting in! I replied to the email with my NursingCas verification of classes page as well as my transcripts so they could also verify the two classes it shows it is missing. I applied for the April Cohort and that is less then two months away so I am concerned they have already made there decisions and I will be left off because of this mistake!
