Hi Everyone! I know this is a bit early but I will be applying to SMU for the ABSN program of Summer 2014 (Oakland Campus). I am currently finishing my Bachelor's degree in health science at CSUEB right now and I will be done in the fall. I just wanted to start a discussion on this topic and get to know some people who are applying to the program for summer 2014. Let's get to know each other, share our stats, etc.
Here are my estimated stats that they look at:
Last 60 units GPA: 3.5
Pre req GPA: 3.4
Teas: 83 but I am re taking it in a couple of weeks
Experience: I am a CNA and Med tech currently. I volunteer at John Muir hospital and at American Red Cross.
I hope to hear from some prospective applicants soon!
The counselor says she emailed the dean of admissions about a more specific timeline of when notifications will go out. She said they have not replied her... guess the wait continues
thanks for reaching out to "E'.The wait is soo suspenseful. I'm new to this thread and saw that you mentioned "E" had emailed to all oak applicants before that she had predicted end of February. Do you happen to know when she had sent that email out?
Funny I had the same question. I believe she is referring to her "out of office" automated reply that went out to a few applicants when they emailed her. It doesn't sound like there have been any emails other than the one that was sent right after turning in the application.
Called SMU today. Person I spoke with said they are waiting to receive acceptance and wait list decisions back and they anticipate it being sometime this week....
Thanks for checking in! I noticed last year didn't hear until the 22nd and they were told they would hear much sooner. Hopefully we will hear some news this week!
Good Afternoon, I am new to writing on this forum, but I have been following it. Thank you everyone for all the information you have supplied. Has anyone heard back from admission yet for the Oakland cohort? I have read kind of confusing info on how we hear back, some say they got emails, and some say they got phone calls, did anyone happen to ask the administration how we hear back?
The admissions counselor for the Oakland intake told me on Friday she was hoping to hear "any minute now" and that as soon as she was given the information she would send out emails. She was trying to speak to the Dean of Admissions to get a more specific date for when we would be told.
Also, since the deadline for the next application was March 1st, she let me know that if anyone is put on the wait list but not moved up to start the summer session, they are automatically moved into the pool for the fall session. If you are rejected, they will be lenient with the application deadline so that you can reapply to the Fall session.
I called samuel merritt and the lady who answered said it could be another week or 2 from now before we hear anything. So I emailed ****** to confirm this because it seems unreal, and she said this is normal and doesn't have an update for us. Seems like were all getting different responses depending on who we talk to - I was really hoping for this week!!! So antsy.
