Hi future nurses! I wanted to started a thread for those of us that have applied to Samuel Merritt's ABSN Summer 2022 cohort. I'm hoping we can answer each other's questions and get an idea where the school is at in sending acceptance letters. Yesterday I received an email saying that they completed the preliminary review of my application. Anyone else receive the same email?
@mikilikacheetahI think there is a new student orientation day in April but the programs actual start date is in late May. Are you applying to any other programs?
I just looked up the 2021 calendar and the start day was May 26.
Hi all,
I also applied for SMU Oakland cohort 2022. I hope to hear from them soon as well! I've tried to find the hints about the timing of announcement in some threads from previous years for the same cohort, but seems like this September 1 deadline for Oakland is quite new. It was December 1 deadline last year. So I have no idea when it is going to be the time they let us know about acceptance this year. Since it starts the class in late may, and we don't need to hurry to hear, but the deadline was September 1, so I just feel like it has been long time since we sent our application.
any other schools you guys applied????
Hi @Florenceavenue welcome to the group! Me too I have tried looking at other threads to get an idea. I'm anxious to find out because I'm hoping I don't have to send out more applications. I have an application submitted to an Entry Master's Program at UC Davis and plan to apply to the Entry Master's at Samuel Merritt in Case Management. Have you applied to any other schools? Hope we hear back soon. :-)
Hi @Ltvnurse welcome to the group. I am not too familiar with it. I looked it up and it is accredited and does place students in their rotations. I tried looking up reviews and some of them were mixed. From what I read, they focus more on their BSN program than their Master's Entry program.
Hi everyone! Also looking forward to hearing back. On their website they say to expect to hear around mid-December, but from the other threads, it seems like it's normally ~3 months later, which would put us at early December...Hoping that it ends up being even earlier than that because this waiting is the worst!

I applied for USF and UCSF as well. UC Davis is a good school but it is just too far for me since I live in Oakland. So, this SMU's oakland cohort is ideal spot in terms of location but UCSF is my dream school, but it is very competitive one...!

I was wondering if anyone is familiar with USF’s ME-MSN program? If so, how do you think it compares to SMU’s ABSN program?
I actually applied for USF and heard it is a good school, but I don't have much information about this school. Still, I might go to that school for its ME-MSN program.

Davis is far for me too, but I just want to get into a program and get started. I wish I could have applied to UCSF but my Statistics class was taken 10 + years ago so I'd have to retake it to be considered. Good luck to you!
