Hello!
I'm new to this site, but have been following the allnurses posts regarding Samuel Merritt program applications religiously for a while now. I recently applied to the ABSN and ELMSN - FNP program for the July 1 deadline. Thought it would be great to have a place to provide insight, stay updated and share experiences with all of you through this terrifying journey. I mean we ONLYYY have to wait until October - November to hear anything. Let the wait begin.....
Looking forward to hearing from you all :)
I got the acceptance email for San Mateo today. I'm kinda shocked. It says to submit a letter of intent and a $350 deposit by October 17th, but I'm also waiting to hear back from UC Davis' MEPN in November. I'm not sure which one I'd go with if I got into both (which is why I applied to both). I'm fine eating the deposit if it comes to that, but are there any legal or professional ramifications for backing out of a letter of intent or further enrollment steps? Davis just said they'd be sending out final decisions "sometime in November".
I also applied to UC Davis MEPN. A friend of mine who graduated from their program last year said she didn't year back until March. I think we hear back about making the first cut in November not if we're actually in the program.
Ahhh yeah I think you're right; I just read Davis' email again and it says "All applicants will receive an e-mail notification by the end of November with an update on their application status." That makes it pretty straightforward then. I'm not turning down SMU on a "maybe".

Regarding letter of intent that happened to me yesterday with ELMSN I thought it wasn't going through but today I received confirmation email and now my checklist shows other items!!! So be patient also only pay once! Haha
