Samuel Merritt ABSN - Spring 2019

Published

Hello!

I'm new to this site, but have been following the allnurses posts regarding Samuel Merritt program applications religiously for a while now. I recently applied to the ABSN and ELMSN - FNP program for the July 1 deadline. Thought it would be great to have a place to provide insight, stay updated and share experiences with all of you through this terrifying journey. I mean we ONLYYY have to wait until October - November to hear anything. Let the wait begin.....

Looking forward to hearing from you all :)

Deep breathing y'all! If it's a "yes" then let's enjoy our last few months of freedom. If a "no" then try again! At least we don't have to wait through an interview period!!!

How have interviews been going for those that have already been interviewed? I'm getting pretty anxious to see what the interview process will be like. I feel like theres no right way to prep for it according to past forum posts...

Thanks to some people's advice here, I scored a 94.40% on the HESI A2!

I scored a 92% on math, reading comprehension, and A&P ; I scored a 98% on vocabulary and grammar.

Do you guys think I should retake the exam? I'm only confident in getting a higher score in math. I don't think I can do any better on the other sections

It's really up to you. You only get two chances to take it for Samuel Merritt. They take the higher of the two, but I don't think they piece together a score with your best A&P and your best math. I think they take the higher of the two total scores. So if you do succeed in raising your math score, but for some reason score lower on your A&P, I'm not sure it would benefit you. They ask for a minimum 80 on each section and you have far surpassed that. Again, it's up to you, but as someone who has taken it twice and felt there was a "harder" version and an "easier" version (just my own feelings, nothing scientific here), I would keep that score. It is VERY respectable.

Have any of the ELMSN applicants on this thread heard anything back after your interview? I know the final rounds are this Wednesday the 26th, but I was just curious how you felt you did?

I'm not sure why would take it again. You got at least an 80 on each section, which is what they ask. To raise your score by 1 or 2% seems like a waste of your time and money. If you were raising it from an 85% to 95%, I'd say go for it. You're good though.

Not to rev up anyone's nerves, but I just saw a post on Instagram from Sept 12th that showed someone was admitted into the ABSN Sac Spring 2019 program. *sweats*

Really? That's weird that a person would get accepted two weeks ago but not a single one of us have heard any sort of response yet..

There was someone who was on a waitlist for fall 2018 that was accepted for a spot in spring 2019 because they just missed the cut...maybe it's that person? Other than that it seems odd that anyone would have an answer since they aren't even done with the interviews for ELMSN.

Yeah I thought of the old waitlist as well, but I still don't think they would release those names that far before everyone else. I'm skeptical! (I mainly want this to be wrong cuz that would freak me out!)

I think that person did get told quite a bit ago from what I saw (I'm blanking on what thread it was on that I saw it). I think they were number 1 on the waitlist for fall 2018 or something though and they were told that they should show up to the orientation in case someone dropped out and would get in next time if someone didn't drop out. It's on one of the allnurses threads for Samuel Merritt fall 2018 I think.

I emailed the Sac counselor and she said admission notifications will be sent out early-mid October. So it's definitely just someone who was really high on waitlist, if anything.

Hang in there, only 1-3 weeks left! :)
