Just got off the phone with -----, I'm in for the San Mateo program! She said she is calling alternates as the spots open one at a time. So Alternate #3 keep your ears on.

Hi. I was just wondering. Is the composite score the same as the adjusted individual total score. Thanks

Congrats who got into the program.

Do you know when we have to get our transcripts in?

Multiple people have been mailing different checklists, etc. and there's no financial aid information yet....UGH.

P.S. Don't forget to register this week...its not intuitive so be forewarned.

I have a question about SMU's acceptance of Excelsior college coursework. In this link to the Samuel Merrit Website, it says that BIO 210 = Anatomy and Physiology, however from what I gather researching online, this class has no lab, yet, SMU's website states they requires a lab.

Does anyone on here have any insight into this apparent discrepancy?

By the way: Congratulations to all of the recently accepted SMU Nursing students. I hope to join your ranks in the future!

Vintage, you definitely need a lab as a pre-req...its not just SMU but for the other schools as well. I believe some schools offer just the lab portion but those are few and far between so I couldn't even tell you which schools. Sorry.

Good luck!

Thanks for replying, UCLover. It is strange that SMU lists the class as approved, though. Thanks.

Do you know when SMU San Mateo starts? The link KW sent us said Jan 4th and the Academic calendar says Jan 3rd...

I emailed KW and she said the 3rd! OMG, they are so _____. I need to plan my last day of work and they're not very helpful.

Is there anyone out there that has either attended the accelerated program, or spoken to someone in the program? I am really looking to hear what peoples experiences have been in the accelerated program. Thanks!

I know a UCD student in their accelerated program. She hates it. She says the profs are harder then Davis ones and not helpful. I was going to apply to the absn program, but after speaking to her and looking at their ridiculous tuition cost NO way!

I think it depends where you are and what you're looking for.

I am 7 weeks into the Sac ABSN program and I think it's great. Yes, not everything is perfect and the schedule is tough (I mean, it's full-time school for 11.5 months straight!), but it's an ACCELERATED program and we're lucky to get finished so quickly. You learn so much in the program (at least we have already in the past 6 weeks) and I'm amazed. We start clinicals this week which is really exciting and scary at the same time, but I think we can all do it!

If you go into the accelerated program knowing you'll be devoting your life to it for 11.5 months, you'll be fine! As long as you have a good background in Physiology and Pathophys/Pharmacology, you'll totally rock the program!

Also, it's nice because even though you have to obsess to do really good in all the prereqs and with your undergrad GPA, you only need a 70 to pass your classes here, and they really emphasize working together and place much less emphasis on if you get an A, B, or C! The main goal is to prepare to pass the NCLEX at the end.. and they do a great job getting you ready from day 1.

I am a UCD grad as well, and I think the teachers I've had at SMU so far are way more dedicated and helpful than most of my UCD professors were. Again, it depends on each person's individual experiences and expectations!

Good luck to everyone!

Sorry to anyone that wants to message me, I have not been on this site long and do not have PM privileges yet.

As for the other SMU campuses, I do not know anyone going to them, but I would suggest talking to the Admissions counselor at the site you're interested in to see if there are any previous grads or people in the current program that might be willing to email with interested individuals.

I do think that all of the SMU locations are different in terms of helpfulness/atmosphere, teachers, etc.

I hope that helps
