Got my call yesterday at 5pm! Last name begins with L :) So excited!!!

I received an email today from EB. I am alternate number 2 for the San Mateo Spring 2011 program. I noticed that the email said "Fall 2011" so I called her to clarify. She did say that I was just moved up from number 3 and that "typically the first 5 or 6 alternates are as good as accepted, often many more."

So I'm very relieved at this point to say the least. A whole year of preparation and expenses... Good luck everyone! I'll post again when/if I get a call

Mind sharing ur stats?

I am trying to figure out how to improve my chance getting in.

Thanks

My Stats:

Undergrad ASU 2004 3.37 in Psychology

Natural sciences 3.04

I had a 4.0 for the following prerequisites: A&P, Patho, Pharm, and Nutrition

(I took A&P and Patho from Excelsior. Pharm and Nutrition from Barstow distance learning-Prof Headrick is the best!)

I received a B from my intro to sociology class from LSU online.

My TEAS results

Math 88.9%

Science 86.7%

I worked as a Hospital Pharmacy Tech from 2000 to 2004

I submitted 3 letters of recommendation. All 3 were from Pharmacists that I worked with.

I spent a reasonable amount of time on my Essay. I made sure to have at least two RN's proof read and make suggestions to it.

Hope this helps

Sharshark,

My stats are pretty average - below average compared to the competition:

Undergrad: 3.2

Science: 3.2

TEAS overall: 87.1

TEAS reading: 92.5

TEAS math: 84.4

TEAS science: 70

TEAS english: 94.5

I applied for Nov 2010 in SF and didn't get in. So over the summer, I did a CNA program (which USF highly suggested - the other school I applied to and waiting to hear back from). Its a great experience and I highly recommend it to all would-be nurses. Cuz if you don't like being a glorified #ss wiper, nursing's not for you! LOL!

My essay was unique in which my son is a liver transplant patient and that's why I'm doing nursing.

Good luck everyone!

If I get a call from USF, it'll be a very hard decision to make between SMU and USF!

Hello All,

I just received notice that I am on the wait list for Spring 2011 San Mateo Campus! I know it's not acceptance, but I am relieved I wasn't completely rejected! Does anyone know what the wait list process is? If I don't get accepted for Spring 2011, does that put me on a list for Summer of Fall?

I also received an email saying that I am wait listed at 17...I don't think I stand a chance this semester...what sucks is that we don't even have ways to improve our application for the summer cohorts because I submitted the exact same application. Any suggestions on what to do to improve my chances for the next year?

for all those who were accepted in san mateo 2011, how did you find out the date of the orientation?

Re: Airwolfgunner & hopingandwishing,

I was waitlisted at #2 for SMU spring 2011 in Sac and within 2 weeks was formally offered acceptance. Best of luck to both of you. Being on the waitlist is definitely not a bad spot to be! :-)

Re: hopingandwishing,

With respect to the process of being on the waitlist, I am not sure what happens if one doesn't make it in. But being the eternal optimist that I am, I can only presume it will in the very least help your odds the second time around if it comes to that.

Again, best of luck to you both!

~Chelsea :-)

@ hopingandwishing,

As far as I know when I emailed EB she said that waitlisted students are not carried over to the next round. However, from the blog it seems as though people that have been waitlisted got in either for the selected term or the next term. I'm hoping that since we were not formally denied that it means we were good candidates but competition was just too fierce. I'm in the same boat I'm waitlisted no. 6.

Does anyone know anything about transferring between campuses? Is it possible? I was accepted into the San Mateo program but it would better for me financially to go to Sac since I could stay with family...Any information would be helpful!

Thanks for the reassurance Chelsea, that was very considerate of you.
