Hi everyone! Just wanted to get the conversation started for those who applied for the ABSN Fall 2019 cohort. I applied for the Sacramento location but would love to connect with all who applied in general! Good luck everyone!

I emailed Derric and was told that we should hear something in next few weeks.. which is crazy

I'll be off the grid starting Wednesday, so now I feel even worse about this whole thing. At this point, I'm prepping everything for a July 1st reapplication and hoping SMU is more organized than they seem.

I just called for Katherine and they said she’s out on maternity leave. ?

So they transferred me to Oakland where they said all ABSN counselors are out today and I should try calling for Derric tomorrow.

Did he answer you today? They told me he was out, which tells me they’re trying to avoid us. That doesn’t sound promising. Get the 2020 apps in progress. Ugh.

None of this instills a whole lot of confidence in me about how things are being run. Would it be too much for them to actually be forthright and communicate with applicants? Time to chase down professors during summer break...

I emailed last week and got response within 1 hr. I just thought that it was standard reply and based on previous years we should have heard something by now...

I emailed Derric and got an automatic response that said he’ll be out of office from May 31-June 10and will be back in office on June 11. So it definitely looks like we won’t be hearing back till at least after June 11. Ugh I’m extremely frustrated.

Hi all!

I applied to the San Mateo campus. Like all of you, I'm waiting impatiently and preparing my next application.

In the meantime, I'm getting ready to volunteer at Highland Hospital in Oakland. Any advice on finding useful part-time jobs?

I haven't heard back either yet. I'm going to apply to the next cohort Sac 2020.

I have applied to two other cohorts and every time they send out the responses to who gets in etc when you email any of the counselors at least for Oakland and San Mateo it all says they are out of the office. I think they do this so they don't get inundated with calls, emails, etc. I have always gotten a email back from both Ann and Derric however even when it says they are gone. So I wouldn't look too much into that. But I would get the next application ready the July 1st application has been open for awhile so every time I apply I tell my references that I will be sending another one in a month for back up. That way you don't have to scramble last minute. But this is *** trust me getting weight listed twice has made me consider other career paths that's for sure.

What does your app look like if you dont mind me asking? Like GPA, experience, references and HESI?

Brett - Aww what other career paths were you thinking of? Did they tell you what areas you could improve in?
