Samuel Merritt ABSN 2010 Admissions - San Francisco, Oakland, San Mateo

Published

This is a new thread for anyone that has applied to Samuel Merritt's Accelerated BSN programs in San Francisco, Oakland, or San Mateo for 2010 entry.

This is my second application for admission. San Mateo had a July 1 and Nov 1 deadline, I applied to both. I received a letter the first week in November (in regards to the July 1 deadline) that I was number 48 of 50 waitlisted. This was the first I heard from them regarding that application!! So I am pretty sure I will not be offered admission to that program. Does it seem like a long time that it takes approx 3 1/2 to 4 months to hear anything regarding admission?

I don't know if being waitlisted once will help my chances of getting into any of their other programs or not. I emailed them shortly after the November 1st deadline to find out how long before we will hear anything. And they said they will not be sending out admission offers until at least mid-February!!

I would love to hear from anyone else that has experience with Samuel Merritt's admission process especially from those that were accepted recently. Does anyone know how many applications they receive?

Also, did everyone get a confirmation letter to sign and mail back to confirm that you want to remain on the waiting list?

I recieved that too.

Yup, got that letter the other day. Although I'm basically the last person on the wait list, I guess it doesn't hurt to keep going at this point.

Hopefully everyone else is done with the NursingCAS!

Hi everyone, I saw there were a few questions regarding confirmation letters. Are you refering to letters of intent to attend? If so, yes I received mne sometime early last week. The tuition deposit is $350.00 and is due by July 6th. Hope this info helps.:)

Hi, what do you mean you were waitlisted 53/60?

She means that she was number 53 on the list out of 60 people. I too was on the wait list and got pulled in a couple days before orientation. I was 45 out of 60 on the list. What she says is true, it is a challenging process, but one that is worth it. You do have to trust in the process, but not be afraid to stand up when you need to.

Loans were tough for me only because I had to find a co-signer and some of the people I chose were not the best of choices. My loans happen to be mostly private and it was a hard amount to swallow knowing that I will have to pay those back, along with my previous school loans.

I know that I have more that I want to say, I just can't think of it right now as I am a bit fried from the studying and writing a paper and being at the hospital for clinicals all weekend. I'd be more than happy to answer any questions I can, just let Littleguccipiggy or I know and we will do our best to answer your questions (or at least try to bluff our way through them)! ;)

I emailed the counselor. She said one person has declined the offer of admission at this point. I was # 13 and 12 now.

Thanks for the update, Preeti. So, if I understand correctly, the letters of intent + $350 deposit for those who have been accepted are due on 7/6, so hopefully that means we will hear some good news over the next several weeks/month (s)....?

I hope so. We can email the counselor on the 8th of july to find out that how many accepted people didn't give their deposit. We can also ask about our waitlist number.

Hello,

Did anyone know that how many people confirmed their seats on the waitlist?

I'd be curious to know how many people on the waiting list confirmed that they will stay on it too, but am even more curious to know how many people didn't turn in their deposit!

Did somebody emailed to find out about the waitlist update?

I emailed the counselor yesterday. She told me that I am # 7 on the waiting list at this point.
