Same question 3 times on NCLEX

Nursing Students NCLEX

I took my NCLEX RN today. finished with 75. But I got the same question 3 times, well definitely twice, an infection control/precautions. The questions may have been worded slightly differently, but the answers were exactly the same. What worries me is that I chose the wrong answer on all two or three times. Does that mean I've failed?

Maybe that was one of the test questions. In our Kaplan class they said that 15 out of every 75 questions don't count; they're just new questions that are being tested out.

i would definetly recommend that you take a deep breath and then take a nice long scenic walk. the weather is nice nearly all over the country. by doing that, you will calm down (as much as possible!) and will get some exercise which will help your mood, untense your body and ease your nerves.

I agree with shalom...you need to go out...go watch a movie...go to the beach...dinner with family...something to make time pass by while waiting for results!!! Good luck...you made it this far...you deserve a relaxing and nice rest!!!!

Thank you so much, you guys are great! I also started the new grad program in the ICU. And that doesn't seem to be going too well either. I'm not getting along with my preceptor, she basically told me that I'm too slow and she feels I'm not ready for ICU. My manager wants me to try with another preceptor and see how it goes, she even talked about extending my orientation provided I make progress.I asked what if I don't, she said they could transfer me to one of the step downs. It's only been week 5 of a 12 week orientation, and I actually thought I was getting the hang of it. Now I feel I'm going to be watched or assesed very closely and that makes me so nervous. And to top it all off, waiting for my NCLEX results, my life really sucks!!

I got the same med -- TWICE!! And I chose the similar "teaching" answer twice. I knew that meant 2 right or 2 wrong. From what I could tell in my med book, I chose right. But I was rather thrown by that too. And it was kind of an off-the-wall med -- something I had NEVER been exposed to in the clinical setting, but now that I have time to turn on the boob tube from time to time, I have seen a commercial for it. ARGH.

I am so glad that NCLEX nightmare is over!!

Best of luck to you. The ICU can be stressful for even a nurse that has a year of experience on another type of unit. Some take longer to let everything sink in. If they do not think that this is the time for you there, do not stress out over it.

All that are doing orientations in the ICU are watched very closely, and by not just your preceptor and your manager. The other nurses have input as well in what you are doing.

Focus now on getting those passing results that you need and that will help with your confidence as well.

Best of luck to you.

Thanks Suzanne, I feel so supported on this forum. It's wonderfull to have this place to come and vent and get advice. I'm just going to try my best and not worry. Take one day at a time, that's what my mom always says!
