Saleries in central Florida

Now, specifically where in central Florida are you planning on moving to?

And which agency are you going thru? There have been some major horror stories about several of them.........................

That doesn't sound good!! The agency is Adevia Health. They have told me they will help me to secure a post where I am directly employed by the hospital. We fancy moving to Gainesville or maybe Orlando.

Working 36 hours a week, to make 50,000 you would be making 26.00/hr which isn't unheard of for an agency nurse. If you work 8 hour shifts that's only 24.00/hr. So the information may be correct.

First, why do you even need to go through an agency?

What are they doing for you that you couldn't do yourself, especially when they are not providing a green card for you. The green card will come from the hospital...................

Second, what do you know about this agency? I have never heard of them before. What are they promising you?

Third, do they have anything to back up what they are saying?

I still have not had a reply from anyone as to cost of living in florida and if we (husband and two kids) can manage on my wages untill we can settle

I am a graduate nurse and starting out at $18.00/hr at an Orlando hospital, no doubt with experience you will make more. The cost of living in Orlando can be expensive but I have relatives in the UK and they say that things here are much cheaper. For an apartment you can expect to pay about $800 a month or more, and a decent home is at least $120,000. Groceries for a family of four I would say cost about $600 a month. Car insurance about $100 a month, gas $2.00/ a gallon, health insurance $200 a month for a family and factoring in other expenses car payment, cell phone, etc. It might be tight living on your income alone but I think you could manage. You can always pick up shifts or work two jobs(full time at one PRN at another), no fun but in a pinch it helps. If you work for an agency, where you work at different places depending on need, you can make more money but generally you don't have benefits. Central Florida is a fun place to live, it is sunny most of the time and there's always something going on or someplace to go.

Orlando is not cheap! $120,000 will get you a shack or mobile home! A decent home will run you about 275,000 (standard) I moved from NJ and felt like crying when I found the rate of pay vs the price for decent housing! Please make sure you research the area!
