Salary/Wage of New Grads Nurses in PA, specifically Philadelphia Area

U.S.A. Pennsylvania

Published

So I am curious because I can't find anything on google.

Sometimes on application, they will asked what amount in term of compensation one is looking for.

I just want to know what number so I can stay competitive and not be discarded for being expensive and crazy to ask for that amount with no experience LOL.

Anyone newly hired or starting working within the past 2 yrs?

If comfortable, please share compensation, area of practice/unit, city please? If not, can you PM.

Thank you so much for the help

Specializes in Trauma, Orthopedics.

In Philadelphia, you can expect to start between $27-$31 an hour.

I always stick with "negotiable" on that part of the application. Even though you will have zero room to negotiate.

Thank you for sharing. What if one can't put "negotiable" in the application...like the system won't accept it, what should you recommend I put down? Average of the range you provided?

Yeah, probably. There is a 99% chance they have a set starting rate for all new grads, and what you put down doesn't matter anyway.

You can essentially write anything for the salary requirements option on the online application for a nurse in this area. The wage is not negotiable and will likely be hospital wide based on experience.

I agree with the PP, 27-31ish an hour is generally the starting range for acute care.

Does anyone know what a Clinical Nurse I in Penn's Health system makes? TIA

Thanks for all the input guys.

I'm also interested in clinical nurse I salary @ Penn if anyone is willing to share.

Clinical Nurse I is about $28.something an hour, which comes out to $51,000ish a year.

Specializes in oncology, MS/tele/stepdown.

$30ish/hr at Jeff more than two years ago. Since then, Jeff has had a "market raise" and is now paying more, but new grads do better at Penn, Temple, and Main Line Health.

MLHS is $30.24. Does Penn Medicine have a Weekends Only rate?

Specializes in Neurosurg, Urology Surg, ENT Surg, Neuro.

Penn doesn't offer any differential for weekends and they did away with their Weekend Only program a few years back. Keep in mind that with Penn as a Clinical Nurse I even though you start out at 27.32/hr, once you make Clinical Nurse II (within 2 years) you get ~10/hr more.
