The answer to your question is dependent upon the years of experience that the RN can bring to the bargaining table. Most new grad RNs in the Dallas area can expect to earn between $20 and $23 hourly at most acute care hospitals. With 2 years of experience, the figure increases to between $24.50 and $25 per hour. With 5 years of experience, the figure increases a little further.

I'll move this thread to the Texas Nurses forum for more localized feedback and answers.

Basically from what I read, If you have 5 years experience you basically get the same pay as graduate student RN.

$5 per hour for 5 years of experience seem low.

I don't understand the logic behind that payrate in the nursing profession in Texas.

There is nothing to think about, nursing is different from any other profession and what you see done in one is not necessarily what is done in nursing.

You trained in another field that is not related to nursing whatsoever. And those that work in Texas also have to deal with Group One, but I will let you do your own homework on that one and do some reading about them.

Five years of experience is a 20% difference in pay, it is not the same as a new grad by any means. And one that has gotten their experience in most other countries will be considered as a new grad when they come to the US and begin working. And this is the same in most other states as well.

I wish that you would take the time to actually do some reading on these forums, and you will find out how things are actually done here rather than assuming. It will make it much easier for everyone to be able to help you.
