Saint Vincent Catholic Medical Centers School of Nursing - Queens

Anyone accepted for the Fall 2008 semester? I just got my acceptance letter!!! Yay!!! :) :yeah:

hello ,

it is too late to apply this school now? what is their next section?

i think, SVCMCS is much easy to get into rather then most cuny nursing programs. any advise?

SVCMC not only looks at your HS transcript (if you never took any college classes) and your entrance exam, but also on your interview and essay. I also believe that completing some of the pre-reqs is a plus because it would demonstrate your capacity to handle college level classes.

I do not think there are "easy" Nursing schools to get into. True that they have different requirements and some may look easier to get into than others, but competition is tough. ALL Nursing schools has hundreds of applications coming in every semester and seats are limited. These applicants are not just your average "run-of-the-mill" students, we're talking hardcore, serious applicants with mostly A's and B+'s. So even if requirements are minimal, Nursing schools will definitely take the best of the bunch.

So we all gotta go be the best to be picked from the basket :D

You are 100% right here, gail. Because of what is going on in business and finance, there are more and more people looking to leave those careers and go into nursing, which is much more stable. People are always going to be sick, therefore there will most likely never be a shortage any time soon. These people are smart, serious, have life experience and are determined to get into nursing school, and to do well once they are in.

Hey, did anyone take their test on oct 25? I haven't heard anything yet. Does anyone know how long it takes for then to get back to you? I emailed the school and they said they haven't received the test scores back yet.

I finished most pre- reqs at BMCC. competition is vert tough there as u mentioned. I got 3.75 gpa from pre-reqs and 3.60 gpa overall.

1- Should I apply to school with this gpa?

2- how much their cost and they have financial aid or tap?

3- how long this program takes?

HI RN Care, sorry I took so long to respond... SVCMC has got me busy lol...

You have a great gpa, you should definitely apply, though you do have to keep in mind that there is an entrance exam and interview which are also weighed in with your past educational experience. The program is 2 yrs long, 4 semesters. The school is great, I can only speak for myself, but if you search the forum for this school I'm sure you'll only see good things...

Good Luck to those of you still applying :)

hey everyone!!....congrats to all those in the svcmc nursing program...and gud luck in ur dreams of becoming great RNs......i was a very frequent visitor of this thread when i applied to svcmc for jan 09 but unfortunately i got denied.....however i didnt let it stop me and i decided to go ahead nd apply for lpn program at farmingdale.....and i jus found out today that i got in!!!.....i know its not what i wanted but its a great start to getting there!!......

so to anyone who feels like giving up jus cuz things arent working out the way we planned....i want to say "jus keep moving forward with faith and patience and you'll definitely get there!!"........

hey everyone...

I was not accepted to the Spring semester at SVCMC, but I haven't received any letter stating this. So I called the admissions counselor I interviewed with, she said the reason I haven't received any letter is that they had my application transfered over for the fall semester after they closed admissions for the spring. She said that I am admitted for the Fall semester since no one backed out of the program. She also said I should be getting a letter next week regarding it. I'm a little confused and a bit worried. I am very happy to hear it from her, but worried cause as long as I don't have that letter stating that it's not official and it could change.

My question to the current SVCMC students is this kind of practice normal in the school? should I be confident that I am in for the Fall?

help! mixed emotions....its killing me!

finally got my acceptance letter for fall 09...yey! I just have to wait for 9 mos...hehehe...i am so excited!

what is their deadline for apply to next their semester?

Is It easy to find a place to work with after you graduated from SVCMC?

I heard SVCMC is not accredited from NLN? why is that so?

Congrats Gaileyt!!! I hope I'll be as lucky as you. I sent my application with essay on dec 1st. I have not yet heard from anyone. Do you how long this may take. I'm so impatient. I really want to get into this program. I have the new rn prep book from Mc Donald. I just don't know where to start and how to do a study plan. It's been 4 years since I was done with college. I'm doing a career change now (total opposite) but I can't wait to get motivated.

Congrats again!! It's fun to know that you are already accepted to their program.

2bRNCare - I don't knw the deadline but I know they started on nov and are still accepting.

I heard that employers loves svcmc graduates so they get jobs quick. I went to their open house in oct. and there were some new graduates who says the same.

NLN - I heard that it is not a big deal. It's not going to prevent you from advancing your career at all. it's like being part of a group or not and maybe because NLN requires science test svcmc didn't want to do so.They have their own computer based test instead of NLN tests which is way better for people like me who's going into the health career for the 1st time.

To everyone who was accepted to SVCM, did the entrance exam test on verbal ability and how long is the exam?

Thanks
