I guess nursing school has changed a lot. Are they getting rid of these students after only one mistake or other factors involved. We lost a few people in my class but they were people who were doing poorly in more than one area. I would not think that one medication issue would be enough to discharge someone from a nursing program. This does not sound very fair to me.

No one is out to fail anyone at my nursing school (despite what some of the students say- this program attracts a fairly high-strung crew). We get 2 chances for the med calculation test and two chances on all of our first quarter check outs. That does seem harsh for one mistake.
We started with 15 and are down to 11 right now and they have all quit for various reasons, dumb ones mainly, and I can't wait to see who is left standing. We just passes the drop deadline and even the students that have 71-73's are hanging on but we only have one test next Thursday so I don't see how they can make it. We cannot take the final if our grade is not a 76 or higher. It will be interesting to see how it all pans out. Personally I am hoping some of the people that whine about everything and constantly stir up things will leave.
That's just me though.

So just lost someone who I've been in class with for a 1 1/2 years, It's our first nursing semester...he failed PO meds (forgot to mix suspension). I know I should get used to the feeling, but I don't think I will.
