Sacramento State (CSUS) Fall 2014 Applicants

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi All!

I'm currently applying for Sac state nursing fall 2014 as a transfer student. I'll have approximately 72 pts by the time of application. I cant wait for april/may to hear the results!

Interested in hearing about your experiences!

Thanks so much for all the info! It's nice to have a clearer picture of what the program really demands. The frontloading process will be intense, I'm sure. I was thinking about taking medical terminology over the summer, do you think that will be helpful?

A couple other questions, if you don't mind: Do you get much support from the school in terms of resources for finding a job after graduation? Also, did you or someone you know do a nursing internship after the first year of the program? Did they find it to be good experience?

There's really no job placement thing per se, but paid internships are available after second semester. There's the Kaiser Internship and the VALOR program which is an internship at VA hospital. Taking a medical terminology class will be helpful.

@xaireel

do you think its possible to work while in the nursing program? Did you have a part time job while in the program?

I did not work during school, but some of the people in my class did. It's definitely doable. It just depends on how flexible the job would be with your schedule, because nursing school schedule can change overnight.

Also, it depends on you, if you can handle working and school.

@xaireel

thank you for taking the time to answer our questions; I really appreciate it! :) I my plan is if I get into the program I'll request the first two weeks off and see how it goes.

@Xaireel .. thnx for the info! When you say be prepared for a new way of testing .. I'm just curious what kind of tests would we have to prepare for? Like essay questions or something completely different entirely?

questions in nursing school will be a lot different from prereqs. its gonna be more application of what you've learned. they will still be multiple choice questions but it's not gonna be all what is this? it'll be more, what are you gonna do first for this patient? or, all these answers are correct, but which one is the MOST correct. things like that. you have to know your content so you can apply it to every question on tests.

Decision day is nigh, everyone. I can't wait.

I got into SD's program but all the other schools I've applied to haven't followed up yet. Sac state is my number one choice due to length and overall quality of the program. If I get into Sac's program on Wednesday, I won't have to pay the intent to enroll deposits for the other schools. I really hope they commit to their April 30th decision date..

I am getting very nervous! I don't know at this point if I will be accepted so I am stressing out big time. I wish a lot of things right now, but mostly I wish I hadn't put all my eggs in one basket. I am happy though for everyone who is confidant in their points! Good luck, everyone!

i'm super nervous as well! can't wait to hear the results… 2 more days!

I've been accepted to SJSU, so I will be attending that program. My Sac State score was maybe 75-76? Good luck to you all!
