I was just wondering....
You could try the Fremont/Rideout group in Yuba City/Marysville, and maybe Stockton. They are the last ones I've heard about who were hiring new grads. At this point, according to various recruiters, you are going to be less desirable as a hire than students who graduated more recently. But you do hear about people being hired occasionally. Good luck!
i have applied and went to so many interviews in the sacramento and stockton area....its always the same stuff about there are no new grad positions available or we went with someone with more experience..... i ended up finding a job at a skilled nursing facility where i am able to better my skills with passing meds, g tubes, charting and i have 25 patients everyday.... i am still looking for jobs at hospitals.... but if you are having trouble finding a job maybe try a nursing home.... i never thought i would be working geriatrics but its great experience... and they love to have new nurses!!!:nurse::redpinkhe
I know that job hunting in Sacramento has not been fun lately, but in an ideal situation, what hospitals actually have new grad programs? Are there any with nurse residency programs? Where is the best place for a good/long orientation? I am less concerned with pay and more concerned with making the transition from school to work an easy process.

I know that NYP Cornell and Columbia have excellent training programs for new grads. So does NSLIJ on the island.
I've interviewed with NSLIJ and I worked at NYP Cornell.
The subacute units of long term care facilities offer good experience opportunities often overlooked by new grads. Better to get a job in a long term care facility than to be unemployed. Nothing says you can't continue looking for a hospital job or another type of position while you gain experience in LTC.
In NYC, really? I know that here in CA, the training programs are happening only 2x per year and the amount of graduates the CA schools are putting out, is double. Arnold S. decided to pour money into nursing schools, thinking it would clear up the shortage. Not recognizing that the hospitals would have the same number of spots available. DUH! Makes no sense. Now the bay area is saturated with new graduates, some like myself, looking for a year to find work. I happened to luck out, really.
Find a job out here before you move, you'll regret it if you come out here and you have to pay ridiculously high rent and cannot find yourself a job.
Take it from me, it happened to me. I moved from NYC too.
My classmates and I graduated from WCC's LVN-RN program in Sac on Oct. 17, 2008. We continue to get rejection letters even though our graduating class has a total of 80 yrs of LVN experience (from LTC to Med/Surg). I guess we need to go back to LTC, again, b/c the hospitals have phased out our old positions.
