Hey guys! Who's applying for Fall 2012?

Hey!

For the background check, did any of you order the student badge as well with it? Do you think its necessary? I'm not sure whether its a good idea to get it or not...

Its not necessary as far as I can tell, and have read. It looks like our badge should come from the California Student Nurses Association not the background checking website. I almost bought it too figuring it would be useful to have proof for agencies other than the University but I decided not to.

I didn't get it. I'm sure if you need another background check for a job or internship or whatever later on will require you to go through a certain program anyway.

polka-dot Thanks so much for your input! I will take your advice and wait until either the summer or 3rd and 4th semesters. I see that you graduated already, if you didn't mind me asking, how difficult was it for you to find a job?

I got VERY LUCKY and started working in April (graduated in December). Will email you some details...it's not impossible, it just takes perseverance!

I was wondering did anyone start with the drug and alcohol screen test? I started on it and it was saying we had to go to a LabCorp specimen site and I know there is one on Howe Ave, but I'm not sure if we had to make an appointment for it first since we already have the registration number and form that we had to print out. Also this may be a stupid question, and I know I read it on the preentry checklist, but I just wanted to make sure. Everything we do on Certifiedbackground.com such as uploading our shot records and background test, will be received by the Nursing division, so we don't need to submit any of those documents for verification right?

You can just walk into the LabCorp offices without an appointment. Drink a little water before hand :p

And everything you are told to upload to certified background is only submitted there, just like you thought.

However, I am little confused as to how all this works. I have many questions, so I would appreciate anyone who answers.

For the background check, you pretty much order the package on certifiedbackground.com, and the company does the background check for you and uploads it to your certified profile? Also, for our background test, don't we need to do a fingerprint?

And for the drug test, do you get your results in the mail or does it also upload to your certified profile site?

For the background check and drug test, there is a deadline but there is no document verification. How will the nursing department know that you did it on time?

Also, all the documents that we receive such as our immunizations and insurances and other stuff, we most likely have to scan them into our computer so that we can upload them right?

Sorry, for all the questions, I just want to make sure I fully understand how all of this works. :/

Once you purchase the background check and give them your information, that's all you have to do - no fingerprinting necessary. The background check results and the drug/alcohol test results are automatically uploaded and are visible to you and the SON. For all the shot records/titers/insurances, you can scan them in yourself (they have to be PDFs - I used a free PDF converter I found searching on Google) or there are instructions for you to fax them the docs and they will upload them for you (usually they have them up that day or the next business day). Once they are uploaded, you just have to attach them to the matching requirement and within a few days the SON will review and approve that you've done it.

We do not need to get fingerprinted from what I can tell. The company, ceritifedbackground, does a background check on you and will make it available for the school and yourself when it has been completed. For the drug test you have to go in to have a urine sample taken and your results will be posted to certifiedbackground that is how both you and the school verify your results. I'm assuming the lab facility will include the date the test was administered with your test results. All other documents the must by submitted to ceritifiedbackground must be scanned or faxed. What did everyone else do for the flu shot. I would get it done but it isnt available yet. Did you guys just select Not Applicable?
