U.S.A. California

Hey guys! Who's applying for Fall 2012?

It was nice meeting you too Xai. See you in August. :specs:

The schedule is posted! Anybody else in section 5?

I'm in section 6. So bummed not to be in one of the section that has a day off! Does anyone know anything about the clinical prep? It says 2-3 hours in hospital, is that just on your own schedule that day?

I'm in section 4!!!

Shmorgan3, I think you will have Yuesdays off after the first 3 three weeks of school.

Im in section 8. LOL None of us are in the same section?

I know what you mean shmorgan, I was stoked that I got the day off in the middle of the week so I can have a longer Thanksgiving break. My dad expects me to travel to AZ with the kids and that gives us one more day for the trip. Maybe next semester you'll get a day off.

i sorta have a day off, but not really. i don;t have class on tuesdays, but i have to go the hospital to get patient info. :(

To current/former Nursing students: I have a few questions in regards to equipment. Would you recommend the 3M Littmann classic II SE or the Master classic II stethoscope? Should I purchase one or two uniforms for the first semester? Would you recommend the nursing propack, stethoscope hip clip or nurse's clipboard w/ built-in calculator? Is there anything else you guys recommend? Thanks for your input:)

Hi there! I am in section 8 as well! I am also curious about if I should get 2 sets of uniforms. I'd think so because if something happened to one set you don't HAVE to wash that set if you are busy. Any thoughts from current/former students?

Sukashu I am getting two since I think Ill be too busy to wash the same set of scrubs every day and have it ready by the next. That is also what the School Of Nursing recommends although you could buy one now and another later.

@xaireel thank you, I looked into it but I think I will also just look around.

@Stephenee I'm also section 4!

The schedules sure look intense! I too am thinking of buying two sets of scrubs. And Stephenee raises a good question, I was just going to order one of everything, but am wondering what equipment previous students would recommend. I feel like getting the optional equipment just because they seem helpful, but I'm wondering if it would really make a big difference if we didn't.

I have been told by a friend who is in 3rd semester this fall that the fanny pack is handy otherwise its easy to lose equipment in the dove scrub pockets, she also said the dosage calculation sheet/chart with abbreviations is essential to have. A different friend who is actually a nurse told me that the clip for the stethascope is good to have she says it hurts to keep it around your neck all day and that she lost several by setting them down during clinicals. The clip was not on my list of things to buy but it is now. LOL.

I have a question for those of you who were admitted off of the alternate list. Did you receive an email from the nursing department before the website list is updated? I just noticed they are on alt 37 and I'm number 41....soooo close! I'm just wondering if they send you an email before your number is included/posted on their website????
