Congratulations PeaveLoveHapp3ness, glad you decided to stay at CSUS and I hope we'll all meet at orientation! I'm so excited for the fall and also scared because I totally agree with you, the first semester looks crazy! But I can't wait to finally begin the program after 2 years of prenursing... felt like it took foreverrr!

I've been swamped with finals lately, but I just wanted to congratulate you guys! I officially passed all my first semester finals and I can hopefully meet you guys when you start next semester! If you guys want to get started reading over the summer, I have reading schedules and whatnot for reference if you want them, though they might not be completely identical. I... don't know how much personal info I can post on here, but we can find a way to get in touch. I would STRONGLY recommend getting a head start on N12!

Hi! Congrats to all of those who got in this fall! I was just wondering where all of you guys who are coming in from outside of Sacramento thinking about living? I'm not sure if the dorms would be a good place to start off my Sac State program, or if finding an apartment for myself, or with someone to live with would be better. Hope you guys can give me some input! Thanks(:

@vickymarie I would love to have the schedule. First I was so stressed with getting in, and now that I'm in, I'm worried about surviving it. I guess the worries just doesn't end. Lol.

@vickymarie I would also love the schedules as well. I'm feeling overwhelmed just thinking about how I'm going to get through the program, like xaireel. A little headstart and advice is always great, thank you so much for offering your help! Hey! I am outside of the Sacramento Area as well so I will have to be staying out there in Sac when I go there this fall. I had some of the same concerns as you, but there are some options you can consider that really helped me. I will private message you with more info. :)

Hey everyone,

I am little confused in what we are supposed to be doing before fall starts. I already turned in the intent to enroll, completed the HIPAA module and signed that form, and the school of nursing said that they received it, so what else do I need to do? I haven't received a second email yet on the other requirements.

Vickymarie, I would love to check out the reading schedules too! I don't think I have enough posts to send a private message yet, but I'll try and send you my email address that way.

hbadhesha, I am coming from south bay and will be staying at my in-laws in Woodland (near Davis - it took me 25 minutes to drive from there to csus last time) until we figure things out. The only advice I have is that as my husband and I were looking for houses in Sacramento, we kept finding there are a lot of bad areas of Sac. I didn't realize there were so many places it is not very safe to live. Just something to keep in mind if you decide to get an apartment on your own. We love midtown, but it's more expensive. I also read an article in the paper on the Landpark/Pocket area that made it sound nice. Tahoe park had cheap prices but turned out to be a not good area. Good luck!

Yeah, what shmorgan3 said was also something you need to take into consideration. It is true that there are areas that you need to watch out for.

When I went out there, the tour guide I met said that there was a rise in rape at the dorms due to low lighting and not enough security at night. A lot of girls who reported being raped were mainly walking around the school at night, so we all need to be careful.

Also, there are periodic car break-ins, so if you are bringing a car, you should take that into consideration as well so don't leave stuff out in your car.

Hey everyone, I just wanted to jump in and say congrats to everyone who was accepted for this fall!! I'm so so excited for you guys!

Like vickymarie, I just finished my 1st semester in the program, and I absolutely loved it. It was a stressful and challenging semester for sure, but the experiences you go through, stories you have, things you learn, and the great friendships you develop throughout make it so much fun and so interesting.

Everyone knows you have to study, but something I would really stress is to make good friends with people in your semester, especially in your clinical section. You're going to need them! You'll need people to encourage you, remind you about things, take quizzes and study with you, push you academically, help you, carpool with you, have fun with and to keep you sane!

@hbadhesha - I was a new transfer student, and I chose to live in the American River Courtyard dorms just for my first semester. Overall, I really liked the experience. It's a short drive to the other end of campus to Folsom Hall, and your resident parking permit works there at all times too, since it's off of the main campus. There are plenty of study rooms as well. I guess it just depends what kind of experience you want. Whatever you decide, try to live close to campus! You'll be going there almost every day out of the week, and the classes are early!
