Rutgers-Camden Accelerated BSN Fall 2015

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hi all, I applied to Rutgers-Camden Accelerated BSN program in late January. I wanted to start a new thread for the program. I am anxiously waiting to hear back from the school!! I will have a bachelors in psychology, minor in biology when I graduate in May. Has anyone else applied and received a response yet?

Okay thanks. I got my transcript email two weeks ago. I am going to contact them - I'll let you know what they say!

Yeah send an email to onss. Wont hurt to get the ball rolling. I just gave them my name & RU ID number and stated that I needed to register for fall accelerated nursing courses.

I feel the need to share since its taken me a bit to figure out some things on my own dealing with Rutgers and haven't really gotten much back when trying to contact Rutgers.

I really appreciate you sharing! I've found the same thing with Rutgers - It is incredibly hard to get a response. Hopefully I'll get one soon

Hi Ren17. Can you tell me how you forward your Rutgers emails to your normal email account?

Hi Shellz. I did this when I set up my NetID through the enrollment pathway. Sign into your enrollment pathway and click the Rutgers NetID and services tab. Even if you have already created a NetID, click activate NetID link. Then, on the left side, click manage email accounts. Then add your email address that you want to get the Rutgers emails to the delivering email list.

Ok thanks a lot!

So I just wanted to share information from an e-mail I got concerning prerequisites. I ended up e-mailing an individual rather then the generic nursing school address to try to figure out if all prerequisites actually did need to be complete by September. I e-mailed the Director of the Accelerated program and, according to her, unless you'll have room in your schedule first semester (meaning you already took Pathophysiology and it was accepted as a transfer course) you must take the prerequisite during the summer. So looks like I'll be taking biomedical ethics at the community college!

Im in the same boat but I need to take genetics this summer. Ive looked at many of the community colleges and haven't found it offered in summer sessions. Seems like its offered fall/spring only.Anyone else need to take it and find it at a community college? Rutgers does offer it online and it starts later this month just trying to figure how to pay for it if this my only option.

JD- you find an open bio ethics?

I found an online biomedical ethics course at Camden County College. There were two spots open, but since I had to go through the registrar's office to register, of course those spots are now filled. They are being nice and working with me to keep checking for open spots, but there is no guarantee I'll be able to get into the course. There is a course at Atlantic Cape Community College but it's just titled "Bioethics/New Millennium" and I'm not sure that they would accept that course since it seems like it covers both animal and human welfare. Like you, I would rather not pay the tuition at Rutgers this summer. I just looked on both school's web advisor pages for a Genetics course. Neither has one. I had to take Genetics for my major in undergrad. It's rather frustrating - only because I wish I had known about this new policy for prerequisites before! I would have registered much earlier. oh well - if I have to take it at Rutgers I will.

In the past I've had luck going straight to the professor which will then refer to the dept. head and ask for an override - just tell them you really need this class to get into nursing school etc. Since it's an online class they probably won't be as strict. If you can't find the professor, the Dean of Health Sciences is in the Science building room 106 and her admin should be able to get you set up.

I did e-mail the professor. She told me she has a strict policy and does not allow anyone extra into her online classes. It is capped at 29. Do you think I should still e-mail the Dean? I don't know if that's disrespectful but I just really need to get into the class haha

Yeah it's worth a shot. If you go into the office in person and lay it out, the admin will try to work with you for an override. I did it for A&P to get the prof I wanted. The prof is probably trying to keep the class to a manageable size because all the tests are essays.

On an unrelated note, does anyone here know anyone that is in or has been in the ABSN in Camden?
