Rutgers Accelerated Program - Testing out of certain prerequisites

Published

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone that was accepted or is currently attending Rutgers' Accelerated BSN program had to challenge any courses before starting the program? I have to take exams for the following courses - human interactive process and cultural dimensions of humans and their environment. I was wondering if anyone out there could say if they had to take these exams and if so, are they really difficult or do-able provided one puts in a solid couple weeks of studying...

If anyone could help me with this, I'd greatly appreciate it. I'm not looking for specifics on the exams themselves, just trying to gauge if I have enough time to study at this point - I have unitl the middle of may to take the tests.

Many thanks in advance for any help!

I missed orientation on the fact that they never mailed me anything.

Anyways, thank you for being so helpful. Unfortunately I will not be joining your class. I have withdrawn from the program on being accepted to NYU.

Good luck to you and everyone else!!

SunnyJ1-I really appreciate it. I was going to over study and now I am not. Thank you.:yeah:

Hi marybe,

You can apply while taking prereqs- they basically just want to know that you have a plan to finish/test out of them by the time the program starts. They can be tough to get a hold of, try looking on the college of nursing website for the contact info for the administrative assistants and email or call them.

Rutgers works with a few hospitals- Morristown Memorial, St.Peter's, Robert Wood Johnson, Valley Hospital, Central Jersey VNA, etc.

I'm not sure about testing out of the prereqs- I had all the classes, so I don't know if the exams were challenging or not.

Program is definitely worth it. Quick, thorough, great price. Let me know if you have anymore ?'s

Hello all

I am interested in accelerated nursing of rutgers, i have done bs in microbiology and ms in biochemistry, so my prerequisites are almost done. I just wanna meet somebody from admission section who can guide me. I don't know whom should i contact ? can anyone help me please?

Hi sid 7,

The person I found helpful to speak to over the phone is Ms. Denise Santangelo 732-932-1738 or email [email protected] , who is the administrative assistant for the undergrad program in New Brunswick but she is willing to answer your questions about accelerated program and you can even request that she unofficially look at copies (scan on computer) of your transcripts (through email) to see what you may still need to fullfill. Another person who does not pick up his phone but is good in returning email is Mr. Lou Rusignoulo [email protected] . He can send you info on testing out of challenge courses for lower division nursing classes.

My recommendation to you is to get all your prerequisites done before attending school and challenge out Cultural Dimensions and Human Interactive Processes. You should have already taken Life Span and Nutrition. If possible try to have taken Pharmacology class (its a killer). There is little free time during the summer, just reading and studying. Make sure this is what you want to do.

Sounds like you have a good back ground in Bio and Chemistry and this will be a big help. Good luck to you.

Hello all

I just wanna make sure that, after finishing this accelerated program, will I be eligible for NCLEX exam? or do I need some experiance or something? Rutgers accelerated nursing program is accredited by NLNAC or not? Please reply guys, I m confused :uhoh3:

Yes, the Rutgers's Accelerated program is accredited and you can sit for it after your done with classes in August. We also have to take an exit exam. Not sure about all the details yet.

Hello,

I was wondering if any of you (past or present) could let me know about when you received your acceptance letter to the Rutgers ABSN program. Was it early in the year or not until April?

Many thanks!

I think it was the end of February for me....
