Rutgers Accelerated BSN - Spring 2016

  1. Which Rutgers campus are you applying to for the ABSN program?

It's a little less than a month-and-a-half from the application due date for both campuses, and I'm up in the wee hours doing my best to ensure all the requirements are ticked off on my checklists :nailbiting:

I was unable to apply for the incoming Fall 2015 cohort, as I had more than three pre-reqs pending, but I'm hopeful to attend Rutgers' Newark campus in the spring. Anyone else excited/scared/unnerved with the application process (especially with NursingCAS; even with an upgrade to 3.0, it still does not seem any more intuitive), or has already completed it? Also, what are your interim plans while waiting for decisions?

After being a bit of stalker on the other threads (sorry!), I'm also hoping it won't turn into the debacle that has happened with the Fall 2015 acceptance letters... although,I might have just jinxed that, and maybe with an application deadline extension, to boot!

Here's to hoping this process goes well for all of us!

Hi all! I just joined All Nurses. I will be applying to Rutgers New Brunswick in June for the spring 2017 cohort. I'm sure I'll have many questions, but here's one to start:

The application is due June 1. When are applicants notified if they are accepted/rejected?

Hello everyone,

I was following your thread and all the emotions. So nervous.

I am planning to apply to Rutgers. NB is better for me, but since all the drama is happening, I guess Newark is also on a list.

I see, that many applicants were accepted to Newark. Anybody knows the reason? More seats? Or those who got accepted to NB just kept silent?

Need professional expertise of those who was waitlisted: did you apply closer to the deadline? maybe that was the reason? or you think it was something else?

The reason why I'm asking is that I'm already done with my pre-reqs (all A's, bachelor's GPA 3.68), and the only thing i need is TOEFL. So I can apply for Fall 2016, but since the deadline is april 1 (and it's 2 weeks from now), being close to deadline I might be waitlisted, stressed out because of that, plus expecting TOEFL results. What would be your recommendation? Try it anyway, or apply for spring 2017 as soon as application period opens?

Thank you.

Hi, vgiordano. I am most likely going to apply for the same. :)

On the Rutgers website, it says that the deadline for Spring admissions is september 1, and Fall admissions is June first.

I thing I mixed things up. Thank you for letting me know. I am going to apply for full 2016 then.

Im new to this forum and figured id post here. I too want to get into the accelerated nursing program at Rutgers but im taking my time with pre-reqs over at Bergen Community. I just finished A&P1 which i had to retake because of the 5 yr rule and in the fall will take A&P2. I graduated Rutgers NB SAS in 2011 with my B.S and major in Exercise Science. Unfortunately my G.P.A(2.6)is low because i messed my first 2 yrs in the Rutgers School of Engineering.I worked in a Hospital as am aide for 2 yrs working in an inpatient rehab department and working with a PT in ICU,pulmonary unit, same day surgery, telemetry unit, and peds. I also currently work at a chiropractors office(3 yrs)as an office assistant, and work as an aide at a healthcare facility(3yrs) that provides subacute care, long term care, and rehabilitation. I was an undergraduate Lab TA at Rutgers for Anatomy lab 2 semesters after i took it. What are my chances realistically considering i pull an above 3.5 g.p.a for my pre reqs?Any thing i can do to help me look my resume?Letters of recommendation im not worries about because i can get outstanding recommendations from my A&P prof and one from a former nurse i used to work with. Feedback?

Welcome to forum, Aaraya428. I recently attended info session at Rutgers and suggest you to do the same. They don't care about your working or volunteer experience. You had one that probably will be helpful to get a job, not to the program. They said, "take your prerequisites and submit your application. If gpa doesn't look good that's where personal statement comes into a play: write an essay and explain what is the reasons for not good number. Prerequisites should be with grades they require. If it's C, C- won't work". Do not be discouraged from applying". Also, on their Web site there is an "ask admission" section. Ask your question. They replied to me within 10 minutes. Good luck!!!!

Thank you lana!

Hi all, any other applicants for the Fall 2016 cohort? I am an anxiously awaiting a reply. I know that we likely won't know until the end of the month, but just wanted to see if anyone has heard anything?

Hi! I'm in kinda the same boat as you. Granted, I have no where near your volunteer or job experience in the medical field, per se, but I'm a certified personal trainer, if that means anything. I graduated from both Middlesex County College and Montclair State (major: Italian; minor: nutrition and food science) with a combined GPA of 2.6 (yikes, I know). Long story short, I was in a very bad car accident that had placed my life into a very different perspective, towards nursing. I'm doing quite well in my pre-req's so far (develop. psych: A; Stats I: B+; Ethics: A (possibly for Seton Hall), but I would like to know, realistically, what my chances are for the program. I'm so eager to get in, hopefully in the next year or two I plan to apply. I don't want to get my hopes up and spend the money for all of these courses. I know Rutgers takes a "holistic" approach towards students, but after reading these posts, I feel rather hopeless. Thanks. Feedback would be appreciated :)

Hi I don't really know what they are looking for. I have a 4.0 gpa, have completed all all the prerequisites and have a bunch of volunteer work And unfortunately did not get in. My friend who had grades like mine did not get in either got the Newark. Does anyone know what they focus on to make a determination?

Hi everyone - I just applied for the spring 2017 cohort. For those that were accepted to and are currently enrolled at the New Brunswick campus, when were you notified of your acceptance? They just pushed back the deadline to October 15, and the admissions counselor said she's thinking a month from then is when I'll know.

How is the program going so far? Any feedback is appreciated!
