Rutgers ABSN Summer 2019

Published

Hi Guys, I didn't see a thread for the Rutgers ABSN Summer 2019 so I figured I would start one.

Has anyone applied to the program?

I received my acceptance to NB on Wednesday and also used the reenrollment application. If anyone has any idea about class schedule can you please share. Thanks!

I meant I got my acceptance on Monday.

If you were a previous Rutgers student I’d go on course schedule planner with your login info and look at the courses they have for nursing students in the summer. Some sections are only for ABSN students so look at those ones in particular.

I just did this, very helpful tool. Thanks for pointing this out. Are clinicals during class hours as far as you know. I know they advise against holding a job while in the program but I'm going to try to work when I can to pay the bills.

That I am not sure! I actually accepted the admission offer for NB last night so hopefully they’ll go over that information in April during orientation.

And you’re welcome btw!

I will try this, so thanks for the suggestion. But the only problem is that I graduated from rutgers awhile ago so I don’t remember any of my info, or if it would still be the same. Hopefully I get some answers.

I'm sure they'll go more into detail about it at orientation but when I did the course planner it only shows classes for New Brunswick and not Newark. I was accepted for Newark so I'm wondering if those admitted to Newark are sometimes required to go to NB for class.

Do you think people are still getting in if they did not receive an email on Monday regarding acceptance. so nervous

Hi All, I am a current student in the ABSN program at NB. Scheduling for my first semester is lectures Thurs + Fri 8-2pm and depending on which group you're placed in (you have no say in this process), your 6.5 hr. clinical and 2 hr lab can be any non-lecture day Mon-Sat (i.e. Saturday clinical and Tuesday lab). Also, they say it's a 14 month program, but it's more like 16 months because we follow the Rutgers Academic Calendar so we get Spring and Winter breaks and a small summer break (i.e. I started Jan 2019 and I graduate May 2020). Lmk if you have more questions about the program! I'm procrastinating studying lmao

And no, those accepted to Newark do not have to go to NB for class or vice versa. Many of the professors teach the same course on both campuses. So NB students might have pathophysiology on Thursdays while Newark students have it on Tuesdays (bc the same professor teaches it). However, your clinical placements can be anywhere.

Some students are still trying to work full time. It's really difficult. And in level 1 you only have 1 clinical day. Level 2 is supposedly not bad, but level 3 is probably the most difficult and contains 3 clinical days. So odds are you will have a weekend clinical.

How are the classes you’re taking currently? I heard pathophysiology sucks lol. Could you give a breakdown on how you feel about each class you’re taking this semester (in terms of difficulty etc). Trying to prepare for the summer semester but I’m nervous lol
