Rutgers ABSN Spring 2021

Hey! I figured I'd start a thread as I haven't found one for this upcoming semester. Has anyone applied for Rutgers ABSN Spring 2021 start?

I have applied and am currently just waiting on a response. I know I have spoken to someone at the school and they have mentioned that some people have already gotten their decisions.

@Ry_ari in the small info session, did other people also ask when they would receive notices of admission? Did the counselor give you a hard set of dates?

No it was actually just me in the session. I just asked questions pertaining to the clinical and lecture schedule as well as how payment goes.

Due to covid- Lectures are zoom. It depends on the professor as to if its remote live zoom or just lectures and assignments that need to be complete. They are 3 lecture days but its possible to have two live classes or one...depending on professor. there are two clinical days that vary around 6-8 hours twice a week that will be on site and will be at most 5 students per site vs 8. 4-6 weeks starting the program clinicals will come into play.

You guys think it’s still possible to get denied admission w a really good Bachelor’s GPA and A’s in pre-reqs? Or have our chances increased in getting admitted because of the deadline extension?

@SBRNS I think it's a holistic review of applications. They look at grades and GPA but favor an upward trend if you didn't necessarily do good at the beginning of your academics. Also, the number of credits a person took per semester and what type of classes for example like taking Organic Chem with Physics perhaps is much harder than Orgo by itself. 

Then the essay is a big one that can make or break acceptance from my experience and all the people I know who've been to RU.

Experience doesn't hurt your chances especially if they see you're serious about the RN field.

@merc12 IDK if essays should hold too much weight. I was pretty straightforward in mine and didn’t use any embellishments or praises for Rutgers. Straight to the point about why I want to attend the program and what I plan to do w my education. I’m really just relying on my grades here to boost my app. ??????

@SBRNS Well I mean everyone applying has pretty decent grades I would assume so the only way to stand out is the supplemental stuff but having a 4.0 doesn't hurt! Goodluck
