Nursing Students School Programs
Published Sep 16, 2019
Hey, decided to make a thread since I haven’t seen anyone make one yet. Thought it would be better than to just keep stretching out the 2019 thread. Drop a question below if you have any.

I am currently an adjunct professor teaching medical ethics and policy at a NY law school and have been a paid and volunteer EMT for 3 years. I’m a bit disgruntled because I think if we didn’t have a word limit on the essay and were allowed to submit our resumes I might have made a stronger applicant. But, who knows? Either way — congratulations to those of you who got accepted! I know it’s going to be a tough but rewarding road ahead for y’all.

oh wow.... that looks to me like a really strong and powerful application. I feel the same way. The application was very limiting and only focused on grades. please don't give up. I believe Stony Brook and University at Buffalo are equally, if not better, accomplished nursing programs. You should keep applying. There are other programs also that would love to have you.

Thank you for the kind words! I must say, you also seem like you would have made a very competitive applicant. So, despite my longer reply last week, I’m really scratching my head to figure out how they decide.
Definitely applying to other programs - Stony being one of them. I kind of had put all my efforts on Rutgers for the Spring 2020 start because my schedule/pre-reqs completed only lined up with Rutgers.
Absolutely agreed re not giving up: I know that nursing is the path I want to take and the career that will be most fulfilling for me. If it takes a bit longer to get to where I want to be I guess so be it.
Fingers crossed that you hear good news from Stony!

Thank you. I have my interview tomorrow actually. I will let you know if I get in. I will also be applying to Rutgers again for the summer 2020 start.

Yea there is an option to dorm. I just don’t know how to go about it since I’m commuting.
Is anyone else having problems with the part where we need to sign on to canvas and click on “school of nursing - student information” to sign and upload a form. I cannot seem to find that option.

Yes me too. Canvas has no option for the forms. On my canvas page it doesn't even show any courses
Hi amandav,
you get access to canvas once you activated your NETID. I put up a link in the thread above that gives you access to the activation page.
