Nursing Students School Programs

Hey, decided to make a thread since I haven’t seen anyone make one yet. Thought it would be better than to just keep stretching out the 2019 thread. Drop a question below if you have any.

I called yesterday with tons of questions and the man was like -chill, it takes like 2-3 weeks to send out the info packets. We are waaaaaay more worried than them haha.
I also asked the the stats- as in how many people applied and about how many they were accepting into the spring newark cohort- He didn't know. Does anyone have any idea how many applications they get?

Why does it matter? Lol
Just curious- wondering how competitive it is compared to the other programs I was looking at.

I guess this is where the essay has to make a big difference. I went to different schools on and off for 10 years while dealing with family issues, but finally finished my bachelor's in biology with a minor in chemistry. I have an obvious upward trend in GPA with it being a 3.6 at my final school.Science pre-req GPA is a 3.0 but my million OTHER (of course) bio/chem classes are A's. I volunteer in my neighborhood. I've shadowed doctors, nurses and PA's at Columbia Presbyterian. Not very confident because my GPA isn't competitive, but hoping my essay makes a big difference. If not, I'll be reapplying for summer and also some schools in NYC.

So I have a 3.4 cumulative but my pre-req was like 3.8. I have also been in the Army Reserves since 2016 as a combat medic and currently work at Columbia Medical Center. I guess it wasn't good enough. how come you didn't apply to NYC schools? I am waiting to hear back from Stony as well.
I was going to apply but timeline wise Rutgers is the 1st I could apply to. Lehman, Hunter, Stony were on the list. Hang in there- it aint over yet!

Are you serious? What campus? That sounds like a really strong application....

I saw this morning that I am on the wait list ?
I have a 3.75 overall GPA with a 3.32 in the pre-reqs. I practiced law for 5 years, 3.5 of which I ran my own law firm. I am currently an adjunct professor teaching medical ethics and policy at a NY law school and have been a paid and volunteer EMT for 3 years.
I’m a bit disgruntled because I think if we didn’t have a word limit on the essay and were allowed to submit our resumes I might have made a stronger applicant. But, who knows?
Either way — congratulations to those of you who got accepted! I know it’s going to be a tough but rewarding road ahead for y’all.

Sadly yes. I believe the application is very limiting and doesn't give us a chance to show our true selves and accomplishments. I applied to both Newark and New Brunswick. I hope you get in.
