Hello,
I looked around and did not see a forum for the 2022 fall GEM program at Rush University in Chicago. I just applied and received an email inviting me to interview with the school. I was wondering if there are any other people on here applying to the program and how they are feeling? ?
I am on waitlist no. 27. Was really quite apprehensive about the result of my interview. I messed that one a little bit, I believe.
Congratulations to all those who were already accepted.
And good luck to all of us, waitlisted. More waiting game for us.
Don’t loose hope, futuremsncl. You are still so young. You have a full life ahead of you, Good luck to you, too !
This is the only MENP I have applied with. It is the only MENP I am currently interested, I mean next to University of Hawaii which is too far from home, I’m from Chicago.
If still not accepted up until August, My next option next to this RUSH entry to MSN is taking an Associate in Nursing at a community college. Then will bridge it to MSN shortly after receiving my RN title. Que sera sera ???

Thank you! You as well! Rush was always my top choice, so I do believe I am going to accept. I was accepted to DePaul (but now am certain I will decline), but am still waiting to hear back from UIC and MGH. Rush's program has always just felt like the right fit for me. I've worked so hard to get to this position over the past handful of years, so I am beyond excited (and definitely still in shock)!
Are you only considering Elmhurst and Rush? Which way are you leaning??
I've read so many Rush threads on AllNurses and it seems like they pull a lot from their waitlist, so don't be discouraged! I was waitlisted at UIC last year, but never knew where I stood on the waitlist or how many students were pulled from it, and then was eventually denied in late July. So the good news is you have a number!! Hoping for the best news for all of you!

I was also accepted into DePaul but as you mentioned I am possibly going to deny their offer. I was only offered loans and the program is quite expensive for only a MS RN title. I am also waiting to hear back from UIC but I think I just want to try to make a decision between Rush and Elmhurst since we only have a week to save our seat. Rush was my top choice but because Elmhurst also offers the titles of MSN RN CNL at a lower cost I'm kind of stuck on making a decision. Also, Elmhurst's cohort is 24 students so I'm still not too sure how to feel about that.

Is the cost difference significant? I honestly know almost nothing about Elmhurst. 24 does seem small, but maybe that could be a good thing? Do they have an affiliated hospital? I am excited about Rush because their pipeline to DNP (while not formal) seems worth it. As well as the curriculum and clinical hours are rigorous, it's located in the city, and the volunteer opportunities are awesome.
I can't wait to hear where you choose!! IDK if I can be of any help with your decision, but let me know if I can!

It's about a 16-17k difference. The cost for the year which includes Summer classes as well at Elmhurst is 31k. From my understanding Elmhurst provides students with all their books they need for school and it is downloaded on ipad which students keep, which is kinda nice to not have to worry about the extra costs of books. I'm unsure about their affiliated hospitals but I assume through some Google search it is either Elmhurst hospital and Northwestern memorial? Yeah I really like the volunteers opportunities at Rush, I want to give back to my community and since it's in the city that would be a great thing to take advantage of. On that note, have you been able to view your financial aid package Rush or gotten an email with the login info to view all the provided info?

Wow - that is a big price difference.
I have not yet been able to view my financial aid package. From last years thread timeline (which does have differences from ours, so things could have changed again this year), it seems like admitted students received merit-based scholarships with their acceptance packet and financial-based scholarships through the portal (which some people reached out to (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME) for login credentials). I will probably reach out to her mid-week if I don't hear anything before. I will keep you posted though! And please let me know if you hear/receive anything as well!
