I not sure but I would think so. If your not in the process of enrolling or are not enrolled how would they know where to place your scores? I would definetly call them and see what their policies are. I was enrolled prior to taking my first test so I never went through this. Let me know?

Your Excelsior College Exams (or ECEs as they're know) are kept on file at the college until you enroll. It is the same if you take a class at a local college, but are not enrolled - there is still a record of the class.

You request transcripts from the other colleges when you enroll. So, if you've taken CLEP, Dantes, or classes at XYZ college, you send in the cash to get a transcript when you send EC the big check!

In the state of Florida, in order to sit for the NCLEX you must be an LPN. Every state as a different requirement as to whom can sit for the exam and you happen to live in a state that will only let LPN's sit...that's if they do the Excelsior progam.

now, what you can do is take the state exam from another state, such as South Carolina. You don't have to leave your state to do this, just request to take another state's exam. Then, once you pass the NCLEX, you can transfer it in using reciprocity or licensure by endorsement.

You can not take the Georgia exam, because Georgia requires that you take the exam from another state and transfer it in too.

Also, in regards to those you with negative remarks about the "publishing companies"...TCN IS affiliated with the NLN. Also, yes, you get your degree from Excelsior, but look at these places like bookstores. If you walk onto any college campus in this country, there is more than one place where you can purchase your materials. Same thing here....excelsior is the school that you get your degree from. some people don't like using all the textbooks that excelsior and rue provide...that's why some, like me, went through The College Network. TCN provides one guide per course and ALL the research has been done.

So, for those of you wondering what to do....all i say is, "do your own research." everyone has an opinion, but YOU have to do what is best for YOU!!!

Hi. I am new here and I have many questions about excelsior. I understand mostly how it works. My main concerns are:

1. Will I have a less chance of getting hired with a distance degree?

2. I know wisconsin accepts it for boards.....I'm worried about what to say when the employer asks me about my clinical experience and Excelsior's is so little....just the weekend.

3. Is there a way to set up more clinicals at a hospital on your own.

4. Share this with me again how to get out of paying a fee by waiting until your ready to test or something?

5. Do you feel that you missed out on the lack of clinicals and classroom teachers.

Again, just to clarify -- the CPNE is not "clinical experience" as in other nursing programs, where you are learning and practicing skills under the supervision of an instructor; the CPNE is a "final exam"-type event where you are demonstrating to an exam proctor that you have already learned the necessary skills. The responsibility for mastering those skills is your own.

HI. I just took my final on Friday for health alterations class and I got a 93% horray!!!!!! Now I am done with all theory and I have a 6 week clinical at a local hospital on the oncology/med surg floor. Then I am done with the LPN program at my community college. I am planning on taking the boards in June and will be taking what I can before my license at Excelsior. I met with The College Network rep about four months ago and it was way too expensive. I checked into the prices to go through Excelsior without TCN and it was like $5000 less. I thought the books were overpriced and I can actually use most of my nursing books for it from the LPN program. I read from students on the yahoo forum that some of them thought that TCN books were useless. To each his own, I guess. I am just going though Excelsior and if you go to the website you can get a student ID to access the classes, fees, and ins-and-outs of the program. You can also speak with an advisor. It's all free with no committment. I've heard Indiana State University is a good program too if you want to go right to the Bachelors. I looked into that to and it's so much cheaper going through the college itself instead of TCN. Yes, you have to buy books, but you can get books used cheap online. ARe you done with your LPN program. Check if your local college used the LPN books for the ADN program where you went. My school does and that's why they'll work for the ADN with excelsior.

I graduated from LPN school last September. I work at an Assisted Living facility and for a nursing agency. I don't want to wait to start working on my RN degree and wanted to be able to do something at my own pace and from home. I have two children and a husband and in the process of purchasing a home so I have a very busy life; that's why I have made the decision to do the online thing. There is so much information about these different programs (some misleading; some good info) my head is spinning. I want to take the simplest route. I have already contacted the state of IL and they do accept RN graduates from Indiana State University. Thank you so much for the info. I too have a busy life. I have four kids and my husband and I run a wedding business where we have packages of photography, DJ, and videograpy. He is the DJ, I am the photographer, and my assistant does the videography. I also do photography separate from the weddings- kids and family stuff. Because of the success of our business, I will only work partime as a nurse-probably two days per week. My husband also works for Wisconsin Public Service....the head office is in Chicage......People's Energy...I think it's called. If I come up with any new info, I'll let you know. By the way, I live right up the lakeshore from you...about 1 and 1/2 hours north of Milwaukee.

lol, you know what is funny about this post is if tcn is not trying to get your money why is their guides $400 + dollars...no you will not end up spending the same amount or tcn would go broke ...you are paying their fees plus what ec charges.....

excelsior doesn't want you to get your study materials from these places because they want your money going to them....not to tcn. it's a money game.
you're going to end up spending the same amount, regardless of where you get your study materials. you just have to decide if you have time to go through that many textbooks, or do you want the "cliff note
