RPN to RN, BScn Bridging 2016, Ontario

Published

Hello everyone! I have tried to find answers about UOIT and Ryerson (Centennial) Nursing bridging programs, but could not. In short, I got accepted to UOIT and Centennial bridging (Ryerson), and I don't know which one to choose. Please, help me as much as you can. Especially, nurses who studied at those universities could you please share your experiences.

The location does not matter; I can live, move anywhere. For me, higher GPA in the program is the most important. And I do not care about the CNO exam pass rate since both school's rates are about the same. I am graduating from RPN (GBC) in April, 2016 and hope to work 1-2 days a week. Thank you.

Look on CNO membership statistics report, compare each school's CRNE and NCLEX exam pass rates, choose the school with the highest pass rate.

Correct me if I read this wrong, but did you say you'll be graduating from the RPN program April 2016? I'm only asking because I'm wondering how you got accepted to UOIT post PN bridge to RN as one of the requirements is registration as a RPN with the CNO.

If you're deciding between the two, in my opinion your best option is UOIT as they guarantee a seat in the RN program 3rd year after successfully completing the bridging course. Where as ryerson requires you to apply once you have completed the bridging course - and there are no guarantees

Hi amandakiara1,

maybe you were not aware, but universities give conditional offers based on your 1-2-3 semester marks. Then you've to successfully finish the program and pass CNO exam in May.

I am aware. However, UOIT is the only University that does accept conditional offers for post PN bridge. You must posses registration from the CNO in order to be granted admission. I know this first hand from applying to this school, as well as speaking with many admission advisors. It also lists it on their website - Nursing - Post RPN | UOIT - Faculty of Health Sciences

Obviously. But all nursing bridging programs give conditional offer though.

i got offer from Mohawk (McMaster) and Ryerson/Centennial too. That's why I asked help to choose.

When I started the bridging program at Centennial College a few of my classmates just finished their practical nursing programs and haven't written their CPNRE.

Yeah Centennial offers conditional before you write the CPNRE, a bunch of my classmates opted for that program over UOIT because of that very reason - they didn't want to wait until sept 2016 to start after writing in October 2015 Instead they started conditional in Sept 2015

Hmm not true. I received a conditional acceptance from Mac when I began bridging.

Actually, I looked into almost every school when I was making my decision and MOST will give a conditional acceptance.

that was suppose to say doesn't accept conditional offers

that was a spelling mistake it was suppose to say UOIT post PN does NOT accept conditional offers like all the other Universities. Which was stated in previous comments anyway
