  1. Sorry for the confusion. I meant. How it effects the government or how it impacts.
  2. Hi fellow nurse/students, I have to write a paper for a class. It is an argumentative essay where the topic is something that effects/implicates the health care system. The topic must be specific. Can't be broad. For instance, diabetes. I'm struggling finding a topic. Does anyone have any ideas?
  3. Hi ☺️ Im wondering if anyone has experience with bridging from RPN to RN at UOIT or any other University. I am aware that this program is heavy and consuming. However, I'm wondering more specifics if possible. I'm sure course loads change, but I would just like to get an idea of how it will be (classes per week, practicum hours per week). I start at UOIT in September and I have a young daughter and I also work part time as a RPN and will need to continue throughout school. I was just wondering how feasible it was for others to go to school full time, work part time all while having a family raise. Thanks in advance :)
  4. that was a spelling mistake it was suppose to say UOIT post PN does NOT accept conditional offers like all the other Universities. Which was stated in previous comments anyway
  5. that was suppose to say doesn't accept conditional offers
  6. Yeah, you need a minium 60 percent in all bridging courses in order to guarantee a spot in 3rd year UOIT. Centennial/ryerson is more competitive to get a spot into ryerson after completing the bridging. You need to maintain an average over at least 85 percent to get into 3rd year at Ryerson - and there still is no guartenee (as you still need to apply to ryerson). At least what I have heard from people that took the program.
  7. Yeah Centennial offers conditional before you write the CPNRE, a bunch of my classmates opted for that program over UOIT because of that very reason - they didn't want to wait until sept 2016 to start after writing in October 2015 Instead they started conditional in Sept 2015
  8. Well if that's the case I will be surprised as UOIT admission advisors told myself and many other PN students that we could not apply until we are registered with the CNO as a RPN. Therefore, many others went to different schools who did allow the conditional offer or waited a year (wrote PN exam Oct 2015) - not started until Sept 2016. When asked UOIT why they do not offer conditionally they explained that they USED to accept post PN students conditionally but do not anymore as too many students were not passing the required CNO exam - therefore being forced out of the program past the start date. Which I'm assuming would leave very many empty seats and less money for the University.
  9. I am aware. However, UOIT is the only University that does accept conditional offers for post PN bridge. You must posses registration from the CNO in order to be granted admission. I know this first hand from applying to this school, as well as speaking with many admission advisors. It also lists it on their website - Nursing - Post RPN | UOIT - Faculty of Health Sciences
  10. Correct me if I read this wrong, but did you say you'll be graduating from the RPN program April 2016? I'm only asking because I'm wondering how you got accepted to UOIT post PN bridge to RN as one of the requirements is registration as a RPN with the CNO. If you're deciding between the two, in my opinion your best option is UOIT as they guarantee a seat in the RN program 3rd year after successfully completing the bridging course. Where as ryerson requires you to apply once you have completed the bridging course - and there are no guarantees
  11. They gave me the same time limit, and I have already accepted. It's the only school I wanted to go to for bridging as they guarantee a spot 3rd year RN, where as the other schools (that I know of) you need to apply to the RN after you have completed the bridging course (with no guarantee) As such, it is the only school I applied to - hense accepting the offer right away :). Do you have your mind set on any school? They are probably giving such a short time limit as it's such a high demand program and they want to let the people know who are wait-listed if they will be accepted.
  12. Hi! Yes, I found out March 4 also that I have been accepted into the post PN bridging program at the Oshawa UOIT Campus. Congratulations and best wishes in the program ☺️
  13. Hi fellow nurses, I'm just wondering if anyone here has any experience with applying to the bridging program at UOIT. I know this is an extremely competitive program, usually with a minimum GPA from the PN program of 4.0 (80 percent) I have a 3.9 from the PN program and was told from an admissions advisor from UOIT that I am very likely to get in without completing any upgrading. However, I'm wondering how accurate this is. My mark is very close to the usual minimum average and am afraid this is cutting too closely as it is just slightly below. My question to every one here is, has anyone applied to this program? What was your GPA? Did you get in? Rejected? Upgraded as a result? Thanks in advance for taking the time :) and I wish everyone else success in their future educational journeys :)
