RPN to RN Bridging

World Canada CA Programs

Hello,

I’m planning to apply for UOIT RPN to RN bridging for 2021 September intake. My current average is 83%. I just want to know if anyone who recently got accepted to UOIT bridging what your average was. Have any of you taken the university courses to upgrade your percentage to get it?

Thank you!

Also, it’s never a waste to do upgrading, you’ll need university credits regardless of what school you go to (unless you already have some) so that’s why I took electives with athabasca while I was figuring everything else out and now I don’t have to take any with nipissing ??‍♀️

It was a waste for me as I already have undergraduate degree from University of Toronto and the reason I chose to take course with Athabasca is because Ontario Tech requires that you take courses after completion of your RPN diploma to consider it for upgrade. I would not have to take electives irrespective of Athabasca courses or not.

Awh ya that’s a waste then LOL ?

@Ashwini The problem with centennial is that even if I do get accepted to their bridging program, I am not guaranteed to have a spot for the 2 years of BSCN, and I would still have to apply depending on my GPA for the bridging

It’s the same with every college bridging though. You need to have certain percentage in the bridging program to move onto the university part. All the bridging programs require this.

Specializes in new nurse graduate.

Hey so I've heard nothing! I've taken that as a no.. I'm assuming soon (or so I'd think) they'll send the yes or no email? But im assuming If it was a yes I would have gotten an email by now.

I've been proactive and have almost completed a course with athabasca university, to help get my average up. And even enrolled for another one to start next month.. hoping to bring my average up by a few points so I'll get accepted for next September and then I'll have two uni electives out of the way ??‍♀️

Hey @nursejac I am currently a new RPN graduate and am yet to take my licensing exam here in toronto. I was with centennial college and due to my GPA of 2.6 unable to bridge or apply to other places. I do want to become an RN and free like athabasca university is my only hope. Can you shed some light on your experience as it pertains to athabasca university and upgrading to RN. Please feel free to email me at: [email protected]

The same issue I had, my RPN GPA is around 79%. UOIT last year's cutoff was mid-80s, so I have to take either a college certificate or a university course to upgrade. Each college-approved certificate is worth 4 credits, and the college course is worth 1 credit, but the university course doubles the credit of college courses.

I already applied to Trent Compressed Nursing and UOIT, but it is unlikely to be accepted. I sent emails to UOIT but never replied to you specifically. I was wondering which upgrade courses that I should take now in order not to waste my time.
