Hi there :) Can someone help me or give me an idea what to do? I am canadian RPN, Registered nurse in the Philippines and LPN in Michigan, i want to move in Michigan but i dont know how to start applying for a job, i dont know if im qualified to work as LPN or RN in Michigan. Please help me on my situation i really want to move to work in US. thanks
You will be looking at a bridging course LPN to RN and there are a few options. Depending on state there can be state school training or even long distant training like Excelsior (not all states accepts this program and much has been written in the distant learning forum under the student tab)

Ok, I will be around NJ, NY , PA,CT . so is there any bridging course around this area ? Please help me , I am very much confuse here. And Will I be Elligible to Work in US on the base of Practical Nurse which I did in Canada ?
If I have interpreted this correctly, you are still working on your RPN program here in Canada, are you going to be writing your registration exam this year or next year as this exam is only offered three times a year and you must pass it by the third try. I would think you might want to wait to see if you pass this exam first. The schools say that everyone passes first try but that is not true at all.
As for whether the RPN is the same as the U.S. RN, is a huge question, this may be quantified on many factors, not just length of study time. I would likely start at the Board of Nursing in the area you wish to work in and see what they say.
Agree, you need to start with the BON on the state you plan on working and you will require a license from Canada and they will make a decision on whether your training will meet their requirements for foreign trained and allow you to sit NCLEX PN, without meeting requirements you will not be able to work in the US as a nurse. Is your fiancé a USC? Just wondering about work visa

No , my fiance is on working visa in US, But as I am Canadian Citizen , I can work in US . thanks very much for your help. I will find out more information from the colleges over there in US.

Not sure what visa you are looking at as a LPN you will not meet requirements for TN visa and unless your fiancé visa allows spouse to work then you are going to have problems

It seems to me you need to take a number of steps to find out if you can work as lpn in the US, you will need to find out if you qualify for a TN, if a US employer will hire you, if you qualify to write the NCLEXPN. No I am not saying that I want to leave my study here, I am saying after completion of my Practical Nurse here ( 2 Year course), what course I can directly join in US ( If i will move to US after my marriage ) which is equivalent to Registered Nurse in Canada.
