ROSEMAN ABSN Summer 2021

Published

Hi all! I couldn't find any threads for Roseman's July 2021 cohort so thought I would start one. I am from California and applying to the Henderson NV campus. I know applications don't open until December 1st, but thought I would get a jump on this since many of us are getting application stuff together. Feel free to share stats, advice, or anything else!

has anyone received their financial aid package yet?

I haven't received an official email with the information yet but I was able to log onto the financial aid portal and see what I'm offered!

The school said they will send the packet in the beginning of March, but I haven't received anything yet.

Hi all! My name is Ariel and I'm graduating this week from the Henderson campus.

Hi Ariel! Congratulations!!

How supportive was the school during your training, and how do job prospects look?

So far, I am hoping to go to school in California because I've heard that it's basically impossible to get back into the state once trained out of state, AND that nursing in Nevada is really stressful and overwhelming with no mandated ratios (I'm sure this changes by department?)

Thanks for your perspective on the post-training stuff!

It’s actually easy to go to school out of state and then practice in California. I have 3 friends that went through the Henderson campus and quickly got jobs and their license after graduating. The advice they gave me is to apply for the NCLEX and license as far in advance as I can since California is just slow on paperwork. But overall they said it was still fast and easy.

Does anyone know if they're still doing interviews?

The professors are for the most part great, the admin have their numbers to meet, so its a bit off-balanced. Help is available when needed but you have to be the one to seek it out.

I could walk into almost any hospital in the valley right now and get a job, it may not be in the department I want, but they are hiring new grads A LOT, some classmates were even offered jobs during our senior clinical rotation.

Many of my cohort mates are from CA and said the opposite, its pretty competitive to go to school in CA so its hard to get in. The licensing process is pretty fast in NV. A lot of my CA friends said they're licensing in NV and then transferring to CA just because the paperwork is so slow. But if you don't mind waiting you can license in CA after going to Roseman.

Thank you so much from the info!

I'm wondering your perspective on this too. I've heard there's trouble getting a CA job simply by having out-of-state licensing. Have your peers had trouble with finding CA jobs for that reason, or just job impaction/COVID?

Thank you so much again!

Just got my aid package and I’m still trying to figure out how much to take out for rent and personal expenses ? Anyone have any insight ? I know we all have different finances but any ideas will be helpful!

Are you trying to get a roommate? I estimated my roommate cost would be about 700 after utilities. Honestly I think it could be cheaper, but it just depends on how many roommates and where the place is. I also put 120 for food and 87 for car insurance because that’s my normal cost for the month.

Was an email sent out with the aid package? I'm trying to figure out how much I need to take out as well!
