Rolling Admission... intimate setting...

Published

I found one school that I REALLY like and was wondering if there were others like it. They only accept 30 students, so I have a feeling you get a very 1 on 1 teaching experience.

The school has a rolling admission, you are admitted based on the number you are when turning in the application. Students are admitted based on completion of pre-reqs, not on who has the highest GPA or # of points, etc.

They also have a low attrition rate and high pass rate on state board... the lady flat out said they do not weed students out, they want everyone who comes into the school to graduate and pass the state boards.

Anywho, any of you know of schools that this sounds like? I would be looking for a good ADN, BSN, or ABSN program. I already have a bachelors in health care administration and would be looking to start either this spring or next fall. My total GPA is a 2.8... my bachelors GPA is a 3.1... and my pre-req GPA is a 3.3. I'm not a 4.0 student, hence my looking for a program that I can get in to.

Where do live/in what area are you looking to go to school? What is the school you're talking about?

I live in Florida. I am interested in a school in any state besides Florida. I'll move to where ever...

SUNY Alfred State College has a wonderful program that's not based on GPA, pre-reqs etc. They usually accept 100-120 students in the fall but they really work hard to see everyone pass and the professors are great. This is my first semester there. I think they're wonderful. They're located in upstate NY. Here's the website if interested: http://www.alfredstate.edu/academics/programs/nursing

Check out the Lawrence Memorial/Regis College program. Its in the Boston area. http://www.lmregisnurse.org/

hey - thanks a million for your responses. I am going to give them a call when offices open on Monday and ask some questions!

I'm in tennessee and I got into Chatt State with a gpa actually lower than yours, www.chattanoogastate.edu They also have a 75 percent graduation rate (they dont weed students out) and last years nclex pass rate was at least a 92 (5 students havent taken it yet for each one that passes the number goes up). So far they seem to have a great staff and DO NOT want you to fail.

That said, with a low gpa you will HAVE to do well on the NET to get in.

I wonder if you can bypass the NET if you already have a prior bachelors degree...

I see schools in all these other states want NET, TEAS, and other tests.
