I havent found any threads on the Spring 2012 Nursing program, soo i figured id start one! I have already recieved an Email saying everything has been recieved, just waiting on my letter to see if I was accepted! Does anyone know when theyll be sent out? Has anyone recieved that email yet? :redpinkhe
FutureNP1- Yea. When I actually sat down and thought about it, I thought the same thing. 1 semester would be great, but not feasible :-/ Between AP and foreign language classes in HS and the past 1 1/2 at HCC, I have all of the general ed classes for the bachelor's, so all I have to do is the 15 credit bridgework. Plus, if you receive Pell Grants you have to do a full 12 credit hours in order to get the full amount, and the program is only 10 each semester, so I have to take one extra class each semester on top of the program (which I think is completely stupid...if the nursing program is "full-time" then how come it is only 10 and not 12 credit hours...hmmph). For instance, this coming up semester I'm taking Chemistry, since that is the last USF required class that I have to take that isn't a level 3 or 4 bridgework class.
I didn't know that UT had a program..I will look at that one too, although USF is probably going to be more in my budget. Going to speak with St.Joes as far as tuition reimbursement..I know they have some sort of program that pays for schooling, if you commit to working for them for a period of time...not exactly sure how it works, but something to look into.
Can't wait to meet you all tomorrow!
@rnNtraining hi!!! :))) uhmm I was just wondering about the pell grant because I receive it also and I thought the ten credits counts toward a full time student so it wouldn't take off any money from your pell grant even if it isnt the 12 credit hours... Now you got me worried! Taking another class on top of the nursing program seems like too much for me!! Lol
I haven't checked with financial aid...I just gathered that 10 credits is 10 credits and according to the Pell Grant people, you have to have a minimum of 12 credits to get the full amount of pell grants. You can take 10 credits, but the amount you receive will be prorated.
I double checked this against what someone else said on the 2011 thread on here, here is what they said "From what my advisor told me, the Pell DOES cover the nursing program but you still have some out-of-pocket expenses that you can't get at the bookstore such as stethoscope (and other tools you need) uniforms, shoes, things like that. Also, the Pell considers "full-time" to be 12 credit hours/semester but the nursing program is only 10 credit hours, so the funds paid by the Pell Grant will be pro-rated." I will stop by financial aid tomorrow and double check and let you know what they say, but I'm fairly positive the above is correct, I am a frequent visitor to the Financial Aid office..they know me very well as I take care of all my grants/scholarships/loans plus all of my husband's stuff. (Although..lately, my brain has been in about 100 different places...as you can see from the above posting where I was definitely mistaken..thus the reason I am going to double/triple check with Financial Aid)
Hello all!!! Don't forget to bring a bottled water so that u can be prepared to take the drug test... We are all so excited but when thet start talking for almost 8 hours we probably gonna be over it lol... See I like information so I might even enjoy the boring stuff lol I'm weird like that... Lol see everyone tomorrow... So just a reminder again bc I know a lot of people don't like to look at old post lol so the orientation is tomorrow (Wednesday) and Thursday from 8:30am-4:00pm... Can't wait to meet everyone!!
I hope we do the drug test as soon as we get there because I hate having to wait for that stuff. I am praying that I can get into the evening program! I know I sound like a broken record, but idk how me attending the day program is even remotely feasible! I have not heard from anyone in the invisible department, but I just hope for the best!
How are we going to recognize each other???
