I havent found any threads on the Spring 2012 Nursing program, soo i figured id start one! I have already recieved an Email saying everything has been recieved, just waiting on my letter to see if I was accepted! Does anyone know when theyll be sent out? Has anyone recieved that email yet? :redpinkhe
@KikB...It's okay KikB..for the most part everytime I see your name my eyes tell me "Kiki" lol. I don't know why...I have to conciously remember to put a b at the end and not an i...I do believe there have been a couple of times I've put the i there though :-P
@FutureNP1---I have the same issue with UCH Carrollwood...that has been my go to hospital since I was 5. Just in the past two months I have literally been to UCh 4 times! I took my mother there once, my husband there three times in two days. Each time was a pleasant experience. The ER nurses know me by name there! :-P That is why I originally thought of going there to do my clinicals...but I'm not sure if the clincials are there, or at UCH Fletcher....that makes a big difference for me. So I'm going to have to wait until I find out...
Then part of me kinda wants to do TGH just to say that I "survived clinicals at TGH". Then again...I'm also afraid that I WILL NOT survive clinicals at TGH.
St.Joes, is of course really nice..I've only been to the MLK location twice as a visitor, but I've been to the new location on Van Dyke several times for myself, taking my mother, and my husband, and I love it there...they are wonderful, and the hospital is BEEEEEUTIFUL! I wish that it was an option..I'd pick it in heartbeat.
So yea, I'm torn between all of them. I've got positives and negatives for all, so I'm going to end up picking out of a hat to decide.
Yeah, at first I was thinking that I actually would like to do my clinicals at TGH just to be able to get a wide range of experiences. However, with me already working 45 hours a week and the Saturday clinical starting at 6:30 in the morning, it's just too far for me to drive and the whole parking/shuttle thing would be an extra pain. I have so little free time as it is that every extra minute I can find counts and St. Joe's is only 2 minutes from my house so I'm going to go with them. I am definitely planning on eventually going the nurse practitioner route so I need to keep my GPA up and having a hassle-free commute is one more thing I can do to reduce the amount of stress that this program brings. I'm sure that I will get plenty exposure to all kinds of ailments at St. Joe's. If you watch Bay News 9 in the morning, they are constantly saying, "The victim was transported to St. Joe's..." lol
Hello there y'all!!!!!! :) I'm new to posting on this site after many days of reading yalls post over and over! I'm so late!
First off I just wanted to say CONGRATS to those who made it into the program!!!! I know it's late to say this but y'all rock!!!! I made it into the dale mabry daytime schedule! :)))) yay! Oh and I also wanted to say THANK YOU *hugssssss* to those who are so informative y'all seriously are so sweet to keep us updated with information!!! No doubt everyone will be great future nurses!!! Such kind people...... :)
I just have one question though! Has anyone not taken their CPR class yet? I was planning to take it soon after orientation and I would love for anyone else who hasn't taken it to come along!! The more the merrier!!! Hehe I was thinking of checking out the offer kikb stated in the posts!
Can't wait for orientation this week!!!!
Thank you kikb!!! :) yeah I know these other girls who are just so excited for orientation too!!! We are even car pooling too!
Oh and one thing I wanted to share is on uniform city site they sell a pair of landau shoes just like the ones on allheart for $24.98 but on uniform city they sell it for just a tiny bit less than allheart its $22.99 hahaha not much of a difference but I thought I would still let y'all know!
So excited/nervous for Wednesday. It's making it so much more real. YAY! I still have not yet done CPR, nor purchased any books. Is anyone bringing anything special to orientation? I'm guessing they are not providing lunch either day, so I'm thinking it's cafeteria food? Anyone know?
I'm still set for DM afternoons. I'm thinking that maybe this is the class I'm meant to be in. Although, still have no idea what I'm going to do about daycare for my kids for clinical mornings. My hubby is rearranging his schedule so that he can get them in the afternoons, it's that early morning that we will both have to be someplace. UGH!
Ddaners,
There are PLENTY of people who are willing to switch with you in the drop of a dime (including myself) just relax and see if someone is willing to switch with you (myself included) during orientation!!! LOL!
In regards to the CPR class, I was going to wait until after orientation as well, so just let me know...
See you wonderful people on Wed!
Hi ddanders, I'm only bringing my laptop and the policies and procedures that I posted... Also, no they don't provide lunch which really sucks!!! What our application fee is going towards, who knows!!! Lol!!! They could've at least catered lunch Lmbo!!! Yes Dale Mabry has a cafeteria....
