I'm sure that it's probably waaaay to early for this thread, but I figured what the heck. I have all of my application documents just about ready for submission. Just need to add the self addressed postcard and my check.
My main concern though is my Eng I credit. I already have a BS in Biology. The school I attended rewarded me with the Eng I credit based solely on my ACT score. I was originally going to apply for the Spring 2009 class and as I was reviewing my transcripts, I notice that HCC had not given me credit for Eng I. I contacted the Dean of Student Services at the DM campus about it and he referred me to the Asst Dean. From there it pretty much got ugly. My transcript originally had it listed as CLEP credit but I didn't have any CLEP scores of course. I had transferred several times and was given credit every where I went with no questions asked. Not to mention that I actually already have a BS so you would think that I wouldn't have to worry about any of the general education courses. I told all of this to the Asst Dean and the reply that I got was that the original "college awarded the credit in an unorthodox manner and that it wasn't her fault that HCC had higher standards than the other institutions that I had transferred to." Her email pretty much told me to f off in a not so nice way. It didn't help that I gave her a piece of my mind after receiving such a response. *sigh*
I managed to get my original transcript updated so that it no longer says CLEP. It says "ACT score 28" instead. I had an updated copy sent to HCC along with a letter explaining the change, however HCC has yet to update anything. That was last August. Sooooooo, I will be trotting my happy butt in to see an advisor on Friday and praying like heck that they make the change and accept the credit. Because I already have my BS, I absolutely refuse to go back and take Eng I. I'm not happy at all with HCC's administrative staff, but because I can't find another true evening nursing program that doesn't cost an arm and a leg....I'm pretty much stuck with them. I can't afford to quit my job and go to school full time...if I could I would be doing USF's accelerated program instead. :)
Wish me luck!!!
Waiting for mine....congrats....this is the fun part....studying is around the corner...I will enjoy this while it lasts
Haha, good point....I'm enjoying this part too. Celebrating and shopping, how much more fun could it get?! LOL
Where did you order yours from, and what kind did you get?
I got my stethoscope today and it's BEAUTIFUL and the engraving looks awesome!!! Happymomma, when are you gonna order yours?
I will be ordering next Friday from http://www.medisave.net/ like you suggested. What did you guys get engraved, I am thinking :redbeathe first initial last name :redbeathe and did you get the head piece engraved or just the bell?

I got the bell engraved, medisave didn't give me the option to get anything else personalized. And, that's funny, you are thinking the same way as me! I was gonna do :heartbeat first initial last name :heartbeat ....but decided to go for my full first name AND full last name between the hearts instead. It turned out really nice....I'm very pleased! You decided on the Cardiology one, right? What is the difference between that one and the Classic II SE (which is what I chose)?

I was thinking of my full first name and last name but wasn't sure if it would be too long. Basically the Cardiology got an overall rating of 9 where as the Classic got a 7 and the warranty for the Cardiology is 5 years and the Classic is 3. The acoustics are supposed to me more audible with the Cardiology and I figured since I am just starting out and will probably have a hard time hearing what I need to anyway I might as well get something that will make it easier to her what I need to. Here is a comparison chart of all the different Littmann Scopes http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=5546106&id=71106675629&ref=fbx_album From what the lady was telling me the Classic is still a wonderful piece of equipment and you will be more then happy with it. I am so glad it turned out great, I can't wait to order mine! Have you ordered your scrubs yet?
Happymomma: oh ok, thanks for that link! I haven't ordered my scrubs yet....I look at them everyday online, but I haven't gotten to try on the tops yet, and I really don't want to order before I actually try them on (same with the lab coat). I wondered about my name being too long on the stethoscope too (I have 15 letters in all), but it isn't and it looks great!

I dont have a clue what is on mine. My husband surprised me and ordered it. He is a bit more detailed and researches everything so I told him not to tell me. Anyway, I cant wait to see the color and what is engraved on it. I am still not sure what to order for scrubs, I am tall as well and not sure whats going to fit properly.
How do yall know if hcc received your acceptance reply? I have not heard from them.
Happy shopping.

Try going to Uniform City and trying things on, not only does it help you narrow down your search but it is fun too. I found the ones I thought I liked online turned out not as nice as I thought, I know the Koi pants come in tall sizes and they are super comfy and fit nicer then most so you might want to check them out (these are the ones I ordered in the "Marissa" style). As for the shirts we are so limited in what we can get, and the ones in the store that are the right color aren't very flattering. I have ordered the Landau top I mentioned in an earlier post but haven't gotten it in yet (my pants where back ordered so I should get my order in on Tuesday) I will try it on and let you all know how it fits.
As for my acceptance letter I sent Millie a quick email just to get confirmation that she received my letter and she got back to me the same day. I am glad I did because my check still hasn't been cashed, has anyone had their check cashed yet?
Let us know when you get your scope in, that is so sweet of your hubby to order it for you! :heartbeat
Did anyone else have a problem with the email regarding your background check? I submitted my request for the background check the same day I received my acceptance letter. The following Monday or Tuesday, I received an email from that company with the download for my background check. But, when I try to download/open it, Adobe Reader brings up a message saying "Adobe Reader could not open 'Background_Report[1].pdf' because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded). I have never had a problem opening attachments before.
I emailed M.F. to ask if she successfully received it, but she replied that she hasn't gone through the background checks yet. Ugh....now I'm worried.
