Roll Call--Fall '05!

Who's all starting out this fall?

I need some friends! :rotfl:

I'm starting my ADN program this fall, It takes 4 semesters--last graduating class, 70 people were accepted, 30 made it to the end, and ALL 30 passed their NCLEX...I hope the pass rate is the same when I take my NCLEX!!! oh, and I live in Tennessee.

Hi again! I'm jealous! :p Sounds like you're all going to be busy and in the middle of it right away! I just found out I have to retake Chem and Organic/Biochem since it's been more than 7 years since I took them. I suppose it's good in a way, I don't remember much of it, but it just adds more time until I'm done. I had originally intended to go straight through and get my BSN, but I found that I can get the job I want as an RN. There are tons of RN-BSN completion programs here, so I can do that afterwards. I'm thinking of going for my Master's after that to be a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner.

I'm pretty set on neonatal nursing because I already have personal experience there and find the field fascinating. Second to that, Labor and Delivery. My daughter was born at 35 weeks and was fine, I had mulitple miscarriages and then became pregnant with my first son, who was born in March 2004 at 24 weeks but sadly only lived 3 days, then in February 2005, after a lengthy hospital stay and exhaustive efforts to delay his birth, our second son was born at 28 weeks. He was in the NICU for 9 weeks, so I have an idea what goes on in there. I became friends with one of the neonatologists, who was the one there when Aaron died. Anyway, I guess you didn't need to know all of that... I'm sorry!

Strange how life brings us where we need to be eventually, isn't it? :)

Don't be sorry. I think that that's a wonderful reason to want to work in the NICU. You've gone through an experience and it will help all of the mom's in that awful situation. You're a very strong person to even want to be in the NICU. That's amazing that you're willing to help other's after your tragedy. :o

You'll be a wonderful nurse, I'm sure!

Thanks... To me, going into nursing is a way to honor Aaron and also Cameron, who would not be here today without the care he received. I've always had a strong desire to be in medicine in some form-I was premed before I got married and had my daughter. I think nursing will suit me better, though, especially because I'd rather be hands-on. :)

Good luck with your orientation!

Tiffany

Hi All,

I will start in August with ther rest of you. I have all prereqs out of the way except micro. We had our orientation May 10th, and have already taken care of all shot ifo, physical, uniform orders, shoes, steth, etc. I have been doing tons of research on this website and recently ordered a few books to read, "How To Survive Nursing School & Maybe Even Love It" and a Student Nursing Planner, I'm hoping these will give me some good information as I begin the long haul, to help ease the pain :rotfl: . Anyway, best wishes to you all, enjoy your summer :)

Hey everyone! I start this fall also, ADN program, 4 semesters long ..........Leia, I do believe we'll be in the same program!

Tweege, I just ordered the same book! I haven't received it yet, but it got good reviews...we'll see.

I start my ADN program in August as well. Registration is June 1st, no idea about orientation yet. For now, I'm working on my LONG list of supplies to buy, and trying to get my house in orderand running like a "well oiled machine". My mom takes my girls for a few weeks every summer, so I'll have a little more time on my hands than usual. I have a lot of little projects I'm hoping to finish, otherwise the garage probably won't be cleaned out for another year and a half!

Yeppers! I haven't taken any classes on the main campus, I live about an hour away. The thing I dread most about starting the nursing program is the drive everyday! :chuckle

Awesome. Have you taken any classes on the other campuses? Isn't there one in Smyrna and McMinnville? I'm not too sure. Are you ready for orientation?

I've taken classes for the past 2 years in McMinnville. I can't wait for Tuesday! The letter said that orientation would be 5 hours long.......I wonder what all we'll be doing?

Registering classes for the fall. Go over uniforms, rules. Talk about all the stuff we have to do this summer (medically) Probably talk about the instructors, content, etc. Just basics, I guess, although I'm not sure. Do you know anyone else who applied?

I also start the ADN program in the fall at my cc. I have orientation on the 21st of June and will register and everything then. I am currently taking Biochem over the summer. I am so excited, yet at the same time nervous. I work in a hospital and have great resources and things at my finger tips, but I am also a very busy mommy of three little ones that has to work. The cool thing is that I have an option of doing clinicals where I work for the fall. I think that will help. I am so glad to see so many of us here. This will make a great support system.
