Who's all starting out this fall?
I need some friends! :rotfl:
I'm starting my ADN program this fall, It takes 4 semesters--last graduating class, 70 people were accepted, 30 made it to the end, and ALL 30 passed their NCLEX...I hope the pass rate is the same when I take my NCLEX!!! oh, and I live in Tennessee.
Most of the people that I had A&P with applied, but only know for sure that 3 others got in (I don't know any of the others outside of school though). And I know one person who's already in the program.......had a class with her my first semester in school and ran into her the other day, she gave me the basic rundown of how it really is!
tell me how it really is! :chuckle
I know that a lot of the people in my A&P II class got accepted. I was suprised that I knew so many. Some didn't even do very well on the entrance exam (which was a pain in the BUTT! especially having to retake the A&P)....But all the people I know deserve to be in, they're very dedicated.
Orientation was great last night, I learned so much! They ended up accepting 50 students this time instead of the usual 40. I recognized a bunch of people from my prereqs but none of my friends made it in I compiled a LONG list of things I have to do or buy before August. This is going to be an expensive summer!!! Following is my list for those of you that haven't had orientation yet and are curious:
Required: White uniforms, lab coats, school patches, leather shoes, watch w/ expansion band, stethoscope, protective eye cover, pen light, ID badges, mal-practice insurance, background check, physical and labs (done), CPR for Healthcare Providers, textbooks.
Optional: Clipboard, hip clip stethoscope holder, NSNA membership, 3/4 length sleeve undershirt (I'm always cold), Nursing drug guide, care plan book, Sauders, day planner.
We're having a buddy tea in August and I think we each get assigned a 2nd year student to be our buddy. We will pick up our patches, receive the equipment we ordered last night (I spent $75) and take pictures for our ID badges.

LOL.........well I know that the math for nurses class you can either take one day a week for the whole semester or 2 days a week for half. 2nd year students pick little brothers/sisters to mentor through the first year. The biggest advice I've gotten so far was to keep your head down, mouth shut and do your work....I thought that went without saying though!!
Hey all, just checking in! I'm checking into ADN programs now - had planned on going straight through for my BSN. I think, if I can, I'll get my ADN, then work on my BSN and evenyually MSN after I start working. I don't know if I'll be able to find one here without a long waiting list! :uhoh21:
Anyway, I hope you're all doing well! :)

Hey,
I am due to start an ADN program in Sept 05 too!! I am stressing already as to HOW in the world I am going to do it on top of the 3 kids (ages 11, 6 & 3), working from home, and EVERYTHING else around here, lol, lol, but I guess there are a lot of us in the same CRAZY boat!!!
Let's all take a DEEP breath, only the Lord knows what we are in for!!

CutieD131, I'm sorry, I don't know much about psychnursing. There is a forum on allnurses for it HERE. :)
Welcome to all the new faces!
I'm stressing a bit about getting into a program. :uhoh21: I have several to choose from, but the best cc programs all give first priority to county residents, and I'm in the county between. The universities have extremely limited spaces and are very competitive and all require different prerequisites. May 2006 is the deadline for most applications, so I have to decide which schools I'm going to apply to so I can plan prereq's I'm going to do. I want this and I am going to do this, but I just don't want to waste any time.
Oh well, enough complaining from me! How are you all doing? :)

I will be starting a 4 semester ADN program at Palomar College in San Diego. I have been on the wait list for 1 1/2 years, and I am so excited to start. I have been working on dosage calculations and plan on getting a handle on them by August. At my orientation I was told we will not have time to go over them, that makes me nervous since I have never learned more than what was taught in Phys and Micro!
Good luck to all!
