Roll Call--Fall '05!

Who's all starting out this fall?

I need some friends! :rotfl:

I'm starting my ADN program this fall, It takes 4 semesters--last graduating class, 70 people were accepted, 30 made it to the end, and ALL 30 passed their NCLEX...I hope the pass rate is the same when I take my NCLEX!!! oh, and I live in Tennessee.

Hi! I'm taking A&P and a few basics this summer. It's my first class since 1997! (I'm 27) I already have 37 credits, some of which won't count for anything now. My dream is to be a NICU nurse - in large part because I have extensive personal experience in that area. Do you have an idea what field you'd like to work in?

Oh, and I'm in Michigan. :)

I have a few ideas....

I would love to work in research, somehow. or epidemiology. Also, I would love to work in OB, or in the OR. Just a few ideas, but I have a strong calling to work in research!

For Fall 05 that is. I'll be going to North Georgia College and State University starting in August. All pre-reqs are out of the way, so I'll be able to focus on Nursing Classes only! My program is an ADN, but I will probably keep going for my BSN, as I have all my core classes for that as well. I'll only need to do an additional 3 semesters for my BSN. That is, after I pass my NCLEX. I'm very excited and ready to begin.

I am starting an ADN program in Fall, I start August 22nd :) It's also 4 semesters with summers off. My mandatory orientation is in an hour, I can't wait to finally have answers to all the questions I have!!

I'll be starting the nursing program this fall too. ADN...5 quarters. I've got all my non-nursing classes done (been on the waiting list for 2 years!), so I'll only be taking 2-3 classes a quarter (thank goodness!). Should graduate in March '07!

As for where I'd like to end up...well, I'm in dialysis now (as a tech), but I don't think I'll stay once I graduate. I'm thinking CCU right now, but I've also started to become interested in Parish nursing too (opposite end of the spectrum!). I'm sure I'll figure it out by the time I graduate! :)

:balloons: I am so excited... I'm going to be starting the accelerated BSN program at Michigan State University. I was raised and live in San Diego, CA so a white winter will be quite a shock.

I'm not sure yet what specialty I want to concentrate on yet. My goal is to eventually become an NP but I want to start out in emergency nursing or pediatrics. But I guess I'll learn more once I start clinicals.

Good luck everyone!

I agree with you, Gail, I wonder if I'll change my mind when I start clinicals...

Hi All,

I'm starting in the Fall - I have a few pre-req's to finish and then the clinicals. Luckily there is not a wait list for the evening/weekend program at the college I attend. Could be because clinicals are every other weekend, Friday - Sunday, 12 hrs each day. If I make it out of there in one piece, I can do anything!!

Looking forward to 2007!

Good luck to everyone :)

Me too! I start an ADN program at my CC on August 24. Our orientation and registration isn't until July and I am still waiting for a letter they have been "finalizing and sending out the end of the week" for a few weeks now, LOL. I can't wait!

My orientation is TUESDAY! We have a lot of things to do before we begin classes...physical, antibody titers, background check, getting insurance, the list goes on and on, I need an orientation to get let me know what all I need to do. This summer is going to be busy....between my 2 summer classes and all this, I'll be worn out before I start the program! :chuckle

Hi again! I'm jealous! :p Sounds like you're all going to be busy and in the middle of it right away! I just found out I have to retake Chem and Organic/Biochem since it's been more than 7 years since I took them. I suppose it's good in a way, I don't remember much of it, but it just adds more time until I'm done. I had originally intended to go straight through and get my BSN, but I found that I can get the job I want as an RN. There are tons of RN-BSN completion programs here, so I can do that afterwards. I'm thinking of going for my Master's after that to be a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner.

I'm pretty set on neonatal nursing because I already have personal experience there and find the field fascinating. Second to that, Labor and Delivery. My daughter was born at 35 weeks and was fine, I had mulitple miscarriages and then became pregnant with my first son, who was born in March 2004 at 24 weeks but sadly only lived 3 days, then in February 2005, after a lengthy hospital stay and exhaustive efforts to delay his birth, our second son was born at 28 weeks. He was in the NICU for 9 weeks, so I have an idea what goes on in there. I became friends with one of the neonatologists, who was the one there when Aaron died. Anyway, I guess you didn't need to know all of that... I'm sorry!

Strange how life brings us where we need to be eventually, isn't it? :)
