role of cna in addiction services facility

Published

Hello, I was curious as to what a nurse aide's duties might include in a specialty facility that has live in patients trying to overcome alcohol/drug addiction. Thank you.

I have never heard of that. Besides taking vitals, I really can't think of anything a CNA would be qualified to do in that setting. I would imagine the clients are self-sufficient. I'll learn something here.

I too can't think of much a CNA would do in that facility, unless some patients were in such a state that they needed more help in their personal care than they normally would. Interesting.

is this a type of halfway house?

i would think it would be like making sure they are taking care of themselves properly..ie..hygeine, money management, ect..

i'm not sure if this woman is a cna..i'm thinking she may be, but i don't know she would have come to be a shift supervisor.

A CNA might provide observation out in the milieu and might be part of community meetings....might take patients out for smoke or fresh air breaks, might go with them to meals if they go off unit....
