Roane State Nursing Students?

Published

I just joined this site in May, after I got my letter for NS. I was just wondering how many people out there are attending Roane State's Nursing Program?

I'm sorry I don't keep my syllabus after the semester is over, I wish I could help you!:( ........

It's okay. Next week, we will find out soon enough...I am beginning to wonder though if it will be 7 chapters in one book or maybe some in one and some in our clinical labs book...because both classes will be on the same day (for me anyways). I am just prematurely stressing!

I was actually in the nursing program at Roane State about 10 years ago...I made it through the first year...had good grades but then "life" got in the way and I had to drop out...my hubby's dad died...my oldest daughter "had" to get married....we had previously adopted a baby boy...and I have a child with disabilities.

Once I had dropped out, I thought that was it...it was only last year that I realized I could go back in...slow aren't I?

So, now I realize I have already used one of the two chances you get at Roane State....and the nerves have begun.

It is probably from one book, Basic Nursing, they usually don't assign reading from the lab book right away. Just remember the saying about eating an elephant...one bite at a time...look at the whole animal and you will be overwhelmed!

MissRN, we already are friends! Ha! Great minds think alike! You left early at the prep class...did you have to go to work? She stressed to really begin memorizing the equilvelents [sp] in our calculations book....look on the Roane State Momentum...one of the other students is going to re-type it and post it there...so watch for them...did you get your books online or buy the student package at the bookstore? I understand there is a cd in the packet from the bookstore that is suppose to be very helpful....unfortunately for me, I ordered all of my books online (saved tons of money though)...and a friend said the bookstore would not sell the cd separate....

my mom called and needed me to come get her...something messed up with her car and triple A wasn't going to be there for a while. i will be sure to look over everything that she puts on momentum! but we really need to be a in a study group together!

Sounds good to me! As I mentioned earlier about previously being in the program, we had study groups at my home all the time...and they really help as long as you set rules like socializing before or after study group...so that everyone's time is used wisely.

Now after speaking with you, we know that there will be at least 3-4 of us so once classes begin we can decide on when and where.

Stell also suggested going over what was mentioned in class during lunch or after school so that we all have a clearer understanding of what was said by the instructors.

I just pray we have a good group to go through this with during our classes and clinicals. One bad apple can make it rough for all...:chuckle

Hey!!!! Anyone else excited about orientation tomorrow? I am so anxious and excited all at the same time....

I am excited even though I'm a 2nd year! I can't wait for tomorrow and all the cool things I hope to do and see this year!:yeah::heartbeat

So I am a little frustruated! At the orientation in May, we were given a copy of the required books; so like most everyone I began looking for them and purchasing them online...saving hundreds of dollars...now the campus bookstore has a package deal [still really expensive] of most of the books with an added bonus of an evolve select CD with the books downloaded and linked to each other....however, the campus bookstore won't sell the cd separate! This just doesn't 'seem' fair to me...I mean the publisher should still realize we are using thier books...why won't they make the cd available to us?

I am most definitely irritated too. I am going to call the bookstore next week and see if they have any of the packages left and ask if I can just buy the cd. I really got my hopes up when someone said that they had them at Oak Ridge. Maybe someone could email the Dean about it. Hopefully she would be understanding about it and maybe let us get some. I thought that the demonstration of it was misleading when she said that anyone could access it online, but I think that just means anyone that already has the cd.

I have been reading up on the evolve select and it seems you can have 2 email addresses...not necessarily only 2 downloads...because you sign up online with your evolve cd under a certain email address...which makes since if your computer were to crash you would just sign back on once your up and running again....so this might be a possibility of someone letting us use thier cd for one of their downloads....also, I posted on momentum a that I am interested in buying who's ever CD is not really needed...some people just aren't computer savvy and could care less about another cd....so we will see...

How are you feeling today after the orientation? I am beginning to feel a little cold feet....I think I am just nervous about the unknown....:sofahider

It is the same for almost everyone...and it is defiantly the unknown, once you start it will get better, I promise and as always ask me anything! I may not know everything you want to know but I probably can help quite a bit!

I am nervous. I am afraid that there won't be enough hours in the day to do all of the studying. And only 3 quizzes and a final? Oh...what if I bomb one? That makes me nervous too.

I would love to have a cd too because I think I would retain more if I can interact with it. Hopefully there will be some who just don't want their cds!
