Could anyone with knowledge about RN salaries in the UK respond to me? I'm a Senior nursing student at The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas. United States that is interested in relocating to the UK in May or June of 2006 after I graduate. Also, what would the salary range be in US dollars compared to the euro or pound? One more thing, how, when, and where can I get a job as an RN in the UK coming right out of nursing school in the US? What do I need to do? Thanks, Rod B.
P.S. What is the cost of living like?

It will take approx 12 months to go through our nursing governing body, jump through hoops and have to do a protected study before being issued a PIN number which will entitle you to work in the UK

salary would depend on experience and exchange rate but average starting is approx £18,000 = $32.122 at todays exchange rate. Have a look on this link, free registration but will give you an idea on jobs

To work in the UK you will need a work visa so have to find hospital/nursing agency to do this
cost of living depends on where you live. South is more expensive than the north (of the country) Living in a city is more expensive than living elsewhere
petrol/gas is more expensive than the US. A few links here will give you an idea

As stated above, there is no way that you will be able to work in the UK for at least one year. Besides jumping thru all of the NMC hoops, you ave to then go thru the immigration process, just like the UK nurses have to go thru to work here.
My suggestion, look for a job here first, you will have at least one year to get everything done, but you are looking more at about 18 months.
And the process cannot be started until after you have a completed set of transcripts. So, you are looking at over two years from now.
