RN Programs in Tampa

U.S.A. Florida

Published

Hello.

I have been searching all these threads to only become more confused and slightly insecured. Some of these threads are over 2 years old. Not sure if the information there is still valid. I have been an MA for over 10 yrs in Tampa and would like to go back to school and get my RN.

I have heard of some schools out there are good, but would only be for day classes. I know trying to find a RN program for evening/weekend classes is almost close to impossible. I have to keep my day job and changing that could not be an option for me unfornunately. :(

Anyone out there that has any information that can help? What schools out there (if any) for evenings? Maybe a student or has graduated? Any feed back would be great.

Thank you!

Determined813- you've lucked out. According to the current HCC catalog on page 148,

BSC1085 (Anatomy 1) has no course prereq. Like I said earlier, if I were you I would enroll IMMEDIATELY for Summer B so you can start the chain I told you about (Anatomy I + lab --> Summer B ) --> (Anatomy II + lab --> Fall 2012) --> (Microbiology + lab --> Spring 2013) and you will be in time for the June 1, 2013 deadline for HCC's Spring 2014 program. I mention this because the chain is the most important, and the other 3 classes (MAC1105, ENC1101, and SYG2000) the timing doesn't matter, you can spread them out over those three terms however you want.

In other words, you need to enroll in Summer B for Anatomy I + lab at the very least for sure if you want any chance whatsoever to make the Spring 2014 deadline. Otherwise you will be pushed back to the Fall 2014 applicant pool, and you don't want to wait longer than you have to I'm sure. In addition, based on HCC public record and threads here on All Nurses, Fall applicants at HCC have a higher floor GPA, so Fall is much harder to get into.

I love my classes at HCC. I took Micro and Anatomy 2 at the same time. My advisor told me it was a bad idea, but I found they complimented each other. We did Immune System in Ant2 and in Micro within weeks of each other. It was also great that we had already covered most of the diseases in anatomy that we covered in Micro. It was a good review.
